So pleased we booked this hotel. You don’t have to be a tennis player to enjoy it! Hotel Club Olivi is set just outside of Malcesine so is not so frantically busy as the other central hotels and has gardens to walk around and enjoy. Having seen a lot of the other towns around Malcesine on the north east of the lake this town was the nicest with narrow cobbled streets, lots of interesting shops, a small port and plenty of restaurants . The castle is an added bonus and the scenery quite spectacular.
A lot of the other hotels in other towns along this area of the lake are set right on the main road that runs alongside the lake so if you want to sunbath or swim you have to do it alongside a busy road.
The area where the hotel is the main road is higher than the lakeside promenade (which runs along most of the lake on this side suitable for walking and cycling.) As the promenade is below the road at this point it’s more private and quiet with two wonderful restaurants overlooking the lake edge minutes from the hotel.
To walk into Malcesine from the hotel will take you 30 minutes along this promenade but the views are so beautiful it’s a pleasure to walk. Alternatively you can do it safely and a lot quicker on the bikes available to hire from the hotel at just 7 Euro a day.
The hotel is family run and everyone was exceptionally lovely and helpful. Breakfast was great with a great choice. We absolutely loved it and will definitely return.
