This hostal would not normally have been my first choice for a 'short airport stay' but I was so pleasantly surprised that I would seriously consider staying here again. At 24 stops and 3 changes on the metro and local train, taking about 65-75 minutes, the journey is not the shortest, but, despite the changes, it is straightforward and once you arrive at San Fernando de Henares, the hostal lies about 200 metres directly ahead as you exit the station. I arrived late in the evening to a warm welcome. You have to announce yourself at the bar, from where you are checked in and accompanied to your room. My room was fairly compact but perfectly adequate, clean and comfortable and everything worked as it should, with good wifi, impressive water pressure in the shower and complimentary soap & shampoo. Drinks and snacks are available form the bar until midnight and there are also vending machines, plus a kebab shop and another restaurant close by for late eats. My room was well ventilated, clean and quiet and there was an extensive menu of modest, local dishes available for breakfast and throughout the day. San Fernando itself is a quiet, modest town with a smattering of shops, restaurants and public squares all within easy reach of the hostal, which is arranged across 3 buildings, depending on the level and type of accommodation required. I enjoyed my short stay and would very happily stay here again.
