Welcome to the historic Madison Eagle, a standalone studio-style space that combines the charm of the past with modern comfort. Located in the heart of Madison on Main St, the Eagle has a rich history dating back to the late 1700s. The original wooden floors and high ceilings create a sense of grandeur and nostalgia. The space features a blend of contemporary and antique furnishings and vintage decor, providing a unique glimpse into the past, including the building's and the area's history. Before the Eagle was a cozy place to stay, it was home to the Madison County Eagle newspaper for 60 years. Prior to that, it was a store, a law office, a doctor's office, a storehouse, and even housed dairy cows at one point. The plush queen-size bed includes fluffy pillows and a soft duvet. The sofa folds out into a full bed for two more guests. The bathroom is located just off the bedroom and includes a shower, toilet, and sink, as well as fresh towels and toiletries. Laundry is available for guest use. The Eagle's kitchenette is equipped with all the essentials you need to prepare a simple meal, including a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, countertop burner, dishwasher, electric tea kettle, and coffee maker. Coffee and a selection of teas are provided for our guests. Relax with a book from the shelf in the cozy reading nook and play a selection of board games or assemble puzzles at the large dining table. The entire building is yours for the duration of your stay. The Eagle includes four dedicated parking spaces at the back of the building and keypad access through the back door. Owners Lorrie and Jonathan are available to answer your questions during your stay. Located directly on historic Main Street and surrounded by local businesses and homeowners. An easy walk to a few local eateries and Dollar General. Nearby hiking and dining are just a short drive away. The Eagle's location grants easy access to nearby Shenandoah National Park, including Old Rag Mountain (23 minutes) and White Oak Canyon (22 minutes) trailheads. Cast your line into any number of nearby trout streams. Owner Jonathan will be happy to make fly-fishing location recommendations. This area is an antiquer's dream! Virginia antiquing maps are provided for our guests. And if you enjoy history, the Eagle is about 30 minutes from several US presidential homes and retreats, including James Madison's Montpelier, Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, and Herbert Hoover's Rapidan Camp. Enjoy local wineries and breweries, including Bald Top Brewing Co. (1.5 miles away), Early Mountain Winery (4 miles), Blue Quartz Winery & Shotwell Run Brewery (8 miles), and more! Walk two doors down the street to Cake Krums Bakery for coffee and breakfast and grab lunch or dinner at Jenny Lynd's Pizza on Main St. You'll find sandwiches and wine at Piedmont Deli (1 mile) and local barbecue at Pig-N-Steak.
