The room was perfectly fine, but some shortcomings of the staff made the stay a hassle. First, we were told someone would meet us at the train station to take us to the hotel, but no one came. Thankfully, a different hotel staff said he would take us to Intiquilla.
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were told we did not have a reservation. Then the receptionist asked if we booked through Expedia, which I said yes, and she said in that case we would be staying at the other hotel in this chain, which has a slightly different name. It was only a short walk away, so that was fine. But my friend and I were being picked up by a tour group the next morning, and of course they also went to the wrong hotel. It was confusing and a little stressful, but we did finally connect with our Machu Picchu guide.
Also, when we got to the hotel our room was locked and they could not let us in. The manager was fixing the hot water or something, so we just had to wait. After about 10 minutes we decided to go shopping, and when we got back about an hour later the room was open.
We were told someone would be awake at 4am to check our bags into a locked room for the day, but no one was awake at 4am. I came back later but even at the time breakfast was supposed to start, no staff was around. They were quite late.
