To say our stay was riddled with problems would be an understatement. The problems began before we arrived when we realised that from the nearest metro station we would have to climb either 14 flights of stairs or walk up a large hill - all with suitcases. While the ad mentions the “heights” of Old Lyon, there is no mention of the accessibility issues in reaching the apartment. When you finally reach the building, there are 3 more staircases through a dilapidated building to reach the flat.
Inside, we noticed, among other things, extensive staining on the couch, and the most uncomfortable bed I’ve slept on - rather than slats under the mattress for even support, there were three metal bars from the frame that could be acutely felt through the mattress.
The cherry on top: no Wi-Fi or television. The host (or their partner, I’m not sure who I actually spoke with) claimed there was a problem in the building that meant the Wi-Fi and television services were down. This implies a known and ongoing issue, which means it should’ve been communicated before our arrival along with an attempt to find other suitable accommodation. Communication from the host was unsympathetic and unapologetic. No known attempts were made to fix the issue (they said they would call a technician but no update was ever provided).
Lastly, no check out instructions (or book of house rules & information) were provided, leaving us in the dark about expectations.
Stay away unless you want to be scammed.
