We overall enjoyed our stay. It's very quiet and peaceful. Lots of things to do inside and out. Although, the floor was sticky when we got there, the pac man machine was broken, the DirectTV in the master bedroom wouldn't work, the internet was spotty.

Great Family Fun
We had a great time at Old Wagon Lodge. It was well stocked with everything we needed and the property manager was so nice and easy to communicate with. We had rain during our trip which was the perfect excuse to stay in all day and have a family gaming tournament in the game room. The game tables were perfect for our two boys age seven and ten. We also enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and grill. The house is in a nice location with a short drive to Luray Caverns and town. We also enjoyed a day of hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Thank you for a memorable family getaway!

Great house for families
There were only two of us but this house had so much space and could have fit both our families! Beds were comfortable and Game Room had everything - air hockey, ping pong, foosball, magnetic darts, and even a card table. Kitchen was also nice and there was lots of seating for dining and lounging. Drive to the town of Luray was only 15 min (of very scenic views). Takes awhile to get deep into Shenandoah Park but that’s the case unless you stay in the actual park. And it was a good central location for the other activities in the surrounding are. It was a great home base for the two of us but would especially recommend if you have a large group including kids!

Wonderful quiet retreat
Great large house with many amenities sure to please any age. We stayed with grandparents, parents and kids and thoroughly enjoyed the large yard, fire pit, and hot tub. The game room called for a tournament our last night that topped the stay off perfectly.

Relaxing in Luray
We enjoyed our stay very much. The hot tub is very nice and seemed clean. The kids really enjoyed the game room, as did us adults at times. The fire pit is nice and big, and kept us warm outside in 20 degree weather. It snowed while we were there and the kids had fun sledding down the hill in the front yard. The house is very secluded and you literally cannot see any other houses nearby. The inside of the house had everything you needed to eat, entertain and sleep comfortably. Overall very enjoyable and would certainly go back again.

Sibling Retreat
Old Wagon Lodge was ideal for our retreat. We wanted a place large enough to accommodate our family with lots of options. We played games, told stories around the fire pit and laughed and cried in front of the fireplace. SNOW was a bonus. I highly recommend the Old Wagon Lodge.

Fantastic retreat close to Shenandoah National Park
My friends and I (4 total people) stayed for two nights in the cabin. We climbed Old Rag and had a blast. The game room is fun regardless of age, we had a great time playing pool. The hot tub was a fantastic feature as well, however I will say the cleaning agents poured on the water made me cough, my friends enjoyed it a lot. I would definitely stay here again.

A wonderful place to stay!
My family and I thoroughly enjoy our stay at Shenandoah Woods. We have stayed in Old Wagon Lodge and Sunridge Retreat. The homes are clean, spacious and with every amenity you could ask for provided. We enjoy just getting away from the stress of everyday life and enjoy the remote woodlands and beautiful mountain scenery. We will be returning again and again.

Great spot for a remote getaway
This house was great for a remote wilderness getaway. Has tons of amenities and everything was in great condition. Had a check-in snafu with the code to the key box being wrong and having to wait for the property manager to come out and reset it, but even with that, I would recommend this place and would consider it again.

Great property. Plenty of room for the kids to play. Loved the playroom. Enjoyed the remote location. The only negative is having to haul off the trash. Other than that would definitely rent this property again.

Quiet house in the woods
Spacious house in the woods. About 15 south of Luray. The house has lots of room for several families to stay. Each bedroom is conformable. The kitchen has up to date appliances. The front porch and back deck were really nice for socializing. A large game roo m (even has a working Ms. Pac Man). No cell service, but wifi works well. The property would look really interesting in the fall when the leaves change.

Nice, but...
Wasn't aware property was on a dirt road, luckily we had SUV. The house was larger than expected which was great. We didn't have time to use the hot tub or fire pit. Would appreciate being reimbursed for the wood! Beds were comfortable. Might want to consider large walk-in shower in master bath, or at least replace caulk, it looks nasty. But, overall i would recommend the property, wish we would have been there for a couple extra days.

The property was beautiful, however the cleanliness was not what it should have been.
We had a great time I do think that whoever owns this should do some checking in on cleaning staff you could tell floors haven't been mopped in a while (my little ones had black feet after just a few moments of running around). The rugs in the bathrooms also were dirty so I just washed them myself. I liked that it was close enough to Luray but still out of the way.

Weekend of wow!! Great somewhat secluded outdoor getaway.
This is a fantastic home with space, amenities and the ability to host your family with you or make it a fun weekend get away with friends. Came for my sister's wedding as she had family and friends rent different cabins. We picked ahead and got this one. Awesome quiet location away from other cabins. Great front porch to sit and take in the mountain morning. The house had fun for the kids (ages 2-5) that came and the dining room table is great for a family feast or adults kicking back for the weekend. Don't come and plan to sit on your phone through the weekend as reception on that side of the mountain is spotty, but it definitely allowed my family to reconnect and spend more time with one another directly. My family and I all agreed that we'd like to come back to this same cabin in future years.

The property was okay, but the first floor had a musty smell. I also was surprised that I had to pay for the trash to get taken when you already pay for a cleaning service.

Hiking 5 days straight
We stayed in the month of June 2020 during the pandemic. We just needed to be outdoors in the woods and mountains. We hiked every day. The property was perfect for us. Close to a variety of trails. We hiked Old Rag, Mary's Rock, Little Stoney Man, Bear Fence, White Oak Canyon. We highly recommend all of these. We did a lot of cooking in the house due the pandemic so we can not recommend any eating establishments. It was great to have the gameroom for competitions between family members. The only request to the owners would be more cooking supplies(muffin pan, better pots and pans, and oven mitts). I suspect that more travelers will be choosing to eat in this year to avoid crowds. Thank you very much. We would definitely rent this property again.

Quiet getaway
The house was back in a quiet, rural area. Just 4 of us, but lots of room for larger/multiple families. Game room was a hit. Hot tub cover needs replaced (heavy even for 2 people to move). Do read the house notebook. The chemical used in hot tub might bother some! Plan on preparing most of your meals at the house. The area has a few restaurants but seem to close on the early side. (we did find a pizza place with Karaoke one night). House rules ask you to drive your trash 15-20 minutes away to the collection center or pay $5 PER BAG! Luckily we only had 2 bags and it was worth the $10 not to waste that time going the opposite way on our departure. We chose this house for the hot tub, game room and proximity to the caverns and entrance to Shenandoah NP. Gave us the comforts of home after exploring, hiking during the day.

Quiet area and close town
The home is located in a quiet area and close to town, about 15-30 minutes to most floating companies. The house itself leaves much to be desired. The best part about it is the game room and the AC definitely works as it was super cool. Upon arriving we noted the home had not been thoroughly cleaned. I reached out to the house manager with concerns and photos - couches filled with food & hair, under couches and beds were extremely dirty, master bedroom sheets appeared unwashed (stained & hair). We all kept shoes or slippers on because the floors were sticky and turned your feet black. - all that she responded with was that she had not cleaned the couches prior to our stay and no other response. The master bedroom bed needs replaced, as you sink to the middle. Kids loved the playset and game room. Us adults enjoyed the view from the front porch.

Anniversary Get A Way
Very quiet and peaceful. My husband and I loved the game room and hot tub was perfect to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee in the mornings. Great way to start the day. We had a wintery mix day and enjoyed the fireplace, very easy to turn on and off, that is all the heat you really need, it warms things up very nicely. The checkout time was 10 a.m. noted at the house but online it stated 11 a.m., we had made other plans and ended up having to leave a hour earlier than planned. More towels due to the hot tub would have been nice. Living room tv, need update instructions because it states no streaming and there is roku installed on that tv which streams. Shows would come in and out and biggest disappointment was having to watch the Super Bowl in the bedroom and game room because the living room tv requested a password and it wasn't listed anywhere. We wanted to enjoy the nice fire as the game was on. Would be great for a family get a way between the game room, hot tub, play area and the sleeping arrangements. Living room and dining area big enough for family as well.

Not worth the high price tag...
I rarely write reviews unless I am overly impressed or have a terribly bad experience. Staying at Old Wagon Lodge was definitely the latter. Prior to staying, I was super excited to go--Old Wagon Lodge seemed to have it all--great location in the mountains, hot tub, pool table, pingpong table, arcade machine, lots of space, fully equipped kitchen, swingset/playground for the kids, awesome fire pit and a nice looking house! I didn’t mind paying the high price for the house because of all the amenities. Upon arrival, I was completely deflated. The pool table felt is almost see-through, there is a giant square foot rip in the felt that makes playing on the table impossible. Even if the felt were in good shape, the pockets were hanging off the table, dangling and not connected properly. The stairs were a bit dangerous for anyone elderly or very young. There were cobwebs on the curtains, and in the corners of rooms. There were lights in the kitchen without coverings--just exposed bulbs, paint in most rooms was scuffed and peeling. I had read reviews on this place before booking and I remember one person had commented on the scuffed paint--the owner responded that the house is painted each season, but that people don’t care for it the way they would care for their own place. That made sense to me and the fact that we were booking part way through the season made me feel better--if it had been painted at the beginning of the season, I thought it couldn’t have been too bad at the time of my booking. There is NO WAY that house is painted every season--walls are faded where pictures were; the dated, country border paper in the kitchen is faded and there is no evidence of the kitchen being painted after its installation. The bathtubs had a weird green stain in the bottom, screens were missing from windows, curtain rods were held up by others, the welcome book had not been updated since 2014. When we went with the kids outside to play on the playground, it was so rickety that we were afraid it would fall over, there were exposed nails/screws and a wasp nest. When we called the day after to let the managers know these issues, they stated they would come look at the playground, but that re-felting not occur. They tried to put one brace that had come loose back on but again, left exposed screws that were sharp and it was still not stable. The hot tub left our suits with a weird chemical smell that did not wash out. Read the reviews and book with knowledge!
