Please note: The balcony door on the two balconies has no handle on the outside. If it is closed and you are on the balcony, you can open it with an emergency key that hangs on the wall on the balcony. The parking height of the garage is 1.90 metres and it can accommodate only small-sized cars.

The apartment’s neighbourhood is located in a peaceful setting, away from the crowds and buzz of the cosmopolitan life, but close enough to enjoy all the action in Lugano anytime. It is just a short walk from the famous Lido di San Domenico as well as the amazing Olive Trail that leads to the picturesque lakeside village of Gandria.

Lugano’s historic centre, the beautiful Parco Ciani, museums, San Lorenzo Cathedral, the terraces of Piazza della Riforma, Lugano casino and several discos for party animals are all within a pleasant 20-minute walk from the rental. Meanwhile, for natural sightseeing and greenery, Monte San Salvatore and Monte Bre are a 15-minute drive away. These magnificent summits are also ideal for hikers and cycling enthusiasts (Lugano has 300km of extensive cycling network, the biggest in Switzerland).

For easy connectivity, the Castagnola-Serenella bus stop is just next door and the ferry terminal of Lugano is a 15-minute walk to the lakeshore. For visiting the other towns on Lugano Bay, the SBB FFS train is an ideal mode connecting Paradiso, Agno, Melide and more. The nearest international airport is Milan Bergamo, approximately a 75-minute drive from this holiday home in Castagnola, Lugano.

in desperate need of maintenance
The "Honeymoon" property was our third VRBO of the summer in Switzerland. The apartment layout, furnishings and view were all excellent. Unfortunately the property currently needs so much maintenance that is should not be rented again until repaired. We encountered a strong wet fishy smell in the primary bedroom and bath on check in which we subsequently determined was related to the floor under and around the primary bath shower which is rotting. The bathroom floor is buckling and black mold is halfway up the shower walls from the leaking shower pan. We then discovered that there was no hot water in the kitchen! When I contacted the property manager, I was texted that the "owner" had chosen not to have hot water in the kitchen. We had to take pans of hot water from the bathroom to the kitchen to adequately clean up. In addition, the dishwasher constantly has a stale old food smell, even after running. The refrigerator was not adjustable and froze all the food. Overall, this is a great property but in its current condition it should not be rented

Lovely View but that's about all.
We had high hopes for our stay at this apartment in Lugano. Yes it has the lovely advertised view but it has a number of shortcomings that were difficult to reconcile with the nightly rate. Firstly the parking is terrible. The parking space is only 2.1m wide and only the narrowest of cars will fit, such as a Fiat 500. Our Peugeot 308 had 4cm clearance on either side and no way to open any doors. The alternative car park is restricted to 2 hours on Mon - Sat and was full when we found it. It is reached by a long staircase of 70 steps at the back of the building to another road. Secondly the apartment faces south and gets full sun. When we were there the temperatures were in the low 30's and the apartment was like an oven. There is no air conditioning and sleep was very difficult. The fridge and freezer was all iced up with some 3cm of ice covering the cooling plate making for quite a warm temperature inside. There are no condiments such as salt or pepper and we were only given one dishwasher tablet. Such penny pinching on an expensive apartment. So in summary a lovely view but if it's summer and you have a car I would suggest you look elsewhere.
