We rented this property because it offered kayak rental, proximity to the twin cities and the allowed pets. The reason for the rating is a few things we encountered during our stay. First, I went to start the grill to cook the steaks we had purchased in Luck, I could not get the valve to turn on the rusty propane tank. After bringing this to the host attention, we were told "we check the tank after every rental, we must have tightened it too much." We had a second option for dinner, so we turned on the oven. The oven was dirty enough that it filled the kitchen with smoke and set off the fire alarm in the living room. We had to open doors and windows to get the smoke out. The air conditioning (a small single window unit) did NOT have the power to cool the space rapidly after letting in all the hot summer air. It was also disappointing that we rented the kayaks and we needed to clean out spider webs and get the dirt off the sides before we could put them in the vehicle to drive them to the lake. It was poorly stocked with only 3 glasses available to use (there are plenty of coffee mugs) and there were no wine glasses. We did leave the corkscrew behind that we purchased so the next people would not have to purchase one. Lastly, I failed to read the list of things provided and assumed there would be a hairdryer available, since every other VRBO we have rented has had one available. Make sure you pack a hairdryer.
