What can I say other than 'bellissimmo' ... this villa was a great find. The location in Lucca was fantastic. It's so easy to find when you leave the motorway and in such a quiet street only a 5 minute walk from the walls. Having 6 bikes was a joy and we used tbem often. The cycle paths from the villa to the walks made it easy for everyone, no mater what level of fitness. The city is stunning and a very chilled place with lots of choice of restaurants and bars. Lots of great piazzas and places to see. The railway station took us easily to Florence for €16 return, a great day out. Trips to Pisa, Cinque Terre and the beach at Lido di Camaiore were all very easy although we would suggest the train to Cinque Terre as it covers all the towns without the hill drive.
Finally, and best to last, Federica and Maurizio, what can I say again but they were the perfect hosts, lovely people, very friendly and always available to offer advice on taxis, restaurants and whatever you needed. Although they live in the appartment below we had their beautiful garden to ourselves all week. Their lovely gifts of wine and local cake were very much appreciated. We may have left Lucca but have made some great new friends. If you visit Lucca this is definately the place to stay.
