The room could use a television but everything was perfect.

Disliked: Amenities
Area is close to popular things and street parking is free and okay to find but otherwise this property is a joke. I made my reservation and told them I needed ground floor/lower bunk because I am disabled. When I booked my dorm I mistakenly booked a 3rd floor room because that detail is buried in the description and not obvious so I missed it, and KNOWING I’m disabled they could’ve reached out to me to correct it but they didn’t. When I arrived for check in, someone was already asleep in my assigned bunk and had their things scattered around the bed. I texted the staff because they have no rep on site if issues arrive. No clerk, no attendants, no security. The staff person was very rude and basically implied I was lying and when I sent them a photo of the bunk being occupied they told me to wake the person up and ask their name. Obviously I’m not going to do that and I told them I didn’t feel safe doing so since I’m a single woman traveling alone and was staying in a mixed-gender room, I didn’t know who was sleeping in that bunk. They were rude to me and finally got back to me saying that another girl had gotten into my bed by mistake but they had texted her telling her to move to her own bed. I said that I didn’t want to sleep in a bed she’d just been sleeping in and they said they’d told her to change the sheets. This is crazy unprofessional. There was also a high dude in the yard screaming half the night.
Very clean and modern, but this place is bland and clinical. Biggest problem is there is no onsite parking- you have to search hard to get street parking and that may not be near the property. The only furniture in the room is the bed and a nightstand. There is no bedside lamp so you can’t read a book and there’s no TV so I can’t plug in my computer. It wasn’t my thing at all.
Normandie Hostel was a fantastic choice for my stay in Los Angeles. The modern facilities were clean and comfortable, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The hostel's central location made it easy to explore the city's attractions, and I felt safe and secure throughout my stay.
Absolutely loved it.
For a hostel I was definitely hesitant, but the service and cleanliness there was amazing. Recommend this place one hundred percent.
Clean, nicely organized hostel. For me, it was very quiet and comfortable (given that the beds are part of a small structure supporting 4 people in a room). Nevertheless, it was adequate with light and usb charging even though A/C power was only available from wall outlet which likely means an extension cord if you require it. Parking for vehicle is sufficient if you arrive before work day ends, otherwise, it could be a challenge.
A little out of the way, the area was quiet. A local friend pointed out some indicators that it was not the best (safest) neighborhood; I found it enjoyable and interesting.
The service itself was fairly nonexistent - the owner rarely replied, it was difficult to find out how to use or locate anything; there were no TVs, furniture was extremely minimal, and the blinds let in the sunlight.
