Big Sunny Getaway | Walkable to Convention & Beach

Come live the sunny SoCal life in my sunny beach getaway.
Enjoy the best of both worlds as we re just two blocks from the beach and two blocks from downtown. It s a quick Lyft to the Convention Center, or walk to bars, restaurants.
Each morning, make yourself at home to my tea and coffee bar. Choose from fair trade arabica means for a delicious french press, or a wide variety of teas.
The front bedroom features a heavenly queen size mattress on a platform bed. Think of this as your beach getaway with a vintage skyline. Flowing linens cover the windows giving a beachy feel to the room.
The second bedroom is a dreamland with a queen bed tucked on the quiet end of the house. Think of this cozy room as a beach hideaway.
In the evening (after your walk on the beach), enjoy a large flat screen tv equipped with Hulu and Netflix.
I have recently added some extra special touches!
Newly added:
-Full-service bathroom supplies: In addition to fresh towels, you now have a selection of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a blow dryer. You ll pretty much just needs clothes!
-Beach supplies: Grab a chair and a frisbee and hit the sand. The beach is just two blocks away so who can resist!?
- Lending library: Borrow some of my personal favorites for the beach or to read in bed at night. Feel free to add to the collection if you have a book you d like to share with the world.
- Game supply: Pass an evening with your pals sipping wine and playing board games.
-More common area seating: I ve updated the common spaces to include additional relaxing space.
This building was built in the turn of the century, making it a beautiful vintage style home. Keep your eye open throughout the apartment for vintage furniture, hand reupholstered treasures, and personal touches that come from my love of design. Due to the fact that the building was built around WWI, you ll hear a few creaks and signs of age, but my past guests have loved the charm of this welcoming space.

Book now for the 2028 Olympics
Really great stay. The downstair neighbors were a bit loud Friday, but having beach towels, chairs, umbrella, and games ready to go was priceless. I'd book as soon as possible for the 2028 LA Olympics.

Doesn’t Meet Customary VRBO Standards
We stayed 15 days. Tried to find another rental a few days in but nothing was available on short notice. The place hasn’t been deep cleaned in a long time. Thick dust everywhere. Leaves on the artificial plants caked with dirt. Big dust bunnies in corners, baseboards dirty, cobwebs on the ceiling. It’s a 100+ year old building so I understand the charm of age, but the paint is chipped and dirty throughout. Shower curtain had red and brown algea. No exhaust in the kitchen so fire alarm went off when we tried to cook. Kitchen poorly stocked. Two dinner forks and 2 salad forks. Pulled a wooden spatula out of the drawer that was crusted on both sides with old food. What was once the living room is now the main bedroom so the common living space is the dining room which holds a couch and a 24” round glass table with 2 chairs. (A 3rd dinette chair was broken/unusable) - probably fine if you’re only staying 1 or 2 nights. The whole place felt neglected. Neighborhood was AWESOME - best thing about the rental. All the sights and sounds of urban living. Super dog friendly. We enjoyed quite a few pool games at Sweet Water, tacos from the street vender on the corner next to Sweet Water, outdoor cocktails at Ellie’s and donuts. We experienced a few noise issues that were out of Kate’s control. She was very responsive in her efforts to help in any way she could.

Great location, but could use some updates
Overall, the place is in an excellent location, and is perfectly suitable for a short stay. However, we stayed when the weather was cold, and heating was not adequate and we could never get hot water to the kitchen sink. Furnishings are functional, but some could use replacing. Kate provided excellent recommendations in and around the neighborhood!

Amazing location for our stay
Traveled to LGB for a wedding at The Ebell, and Kate’s place was a great choice for our stay, being that it was only 3 blocks away. We loved being able to walk to restaurants, a 7-11, a donut shop with really good coffee. The unit is in a multi-unit building built in 1915, and has charming original floors and built-ins! It’s equipped with all that we needed for our stay and the beds were comfortable (this is highly important, to me at least). We were thankful for the window AC units altho they were a bit dirty; this is my only complaint. Just a note for those sensitive like me or with health issues, the next door neighbor smokes cigarettes on the shared balcony and the smell does seep into the little laundry area through the rear door, but does dissipate enough to not smell in the smaller bedroom nearby. Kate is a responsive host and was super kind and accommodated our last minute ask to check out 30 mins late, and we were able to enjoy an amazing brunch at Ellie’s before leaving, without bringing our luggage!

Cute place with all you need
I was in town for a conference at the convention Center and it was a lovely 20 min walk, totally safe. The place is an older building and I was worried as I walked in, but it is adorably appointed and super clean. Beds comfy. Fluffy towels—all just very homey. Kate was at the ready if we needed anything (we didn’t). Loud music from very close building Friday night but quieted down at a reasonable hour. Perfect for our needs

This is a great location for 2 adults. It's an old house so you can clearly hear neighbors, but the one we met was very nice. I love the neighborhood. I would not recommend for children.

Not what I expected
I was not completely satisfied with my stay at this property but I did have excellent response time to my questions and concerns. I have chosen to email the property manager privately about some of my concerns with the hopes that some well deserved request for improvement will be taken into considerations for the next customer staying there.

We highly recommend this adorable place for your next trip to Long Beach. It has everything you need; it’s clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. Kate replied to my text almost immediately and I felt assured she’d be that way our whole stay. The ONLY slightly negative thing is the parking. Kate fully discloses that ahead of time and she isn’t kidding. After 4:30 or on the weekends, good luck getting a spot on the same block. But you can easily park at the gas station at the end of the street for a small fee. Easy peasy! Did I mention that this place is comfortable?? The beds/pillows/linens are amazing! We got great sleep after a long day of exploring!! We will definitely stay here again!

Very Pleasant & Cozy
I really enjoyed my stay at Kates place. Two small subtle things that really pleased me was how quickly and efficiently the AC units worked and the shower water stayed hot even after 4 people showered. The place was clean and in a good area… we were able to walk to a meat market and get groceries (maybe about 7 mins there) and the beach was not a bad walk either. Parking is very limited but she makes that clear so I won’t complain… I took my kids to Disneyland which was about a 30 min drive from her place… upon our return there wasn’t any parking however we were able to utilize the chevron station that she referred us to. Overall my kids and I really enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend. ☺️

This is a wonderful apartment in a great Long Beach location. It was walkable to everything - the East Village Arts District, the beach, Retro Row, and a slew of great restaurants. The apartment itself is a charming unit, pre-WWII construction with charming built-ins and a nice layout. I really liked that the nicely sized bedrooms were on either end of the unit, giving us the ability to chill on our own, or come together in the living room as we chose. Both bedrooms and the living room had individual in-window air-conditioning, something that is important in California summers! Everything was clean, well maintained and thoughtfully set up. The host is very good about communicating, gave us a lot of information on the area (including a tip on a great restaurant that is steps away). I admit that I am picky, I do a lot of travel planning professionally so I can be overly critical. Still, I found nothing to complain about. Note: Friday and Saturday nights can be a little lively in this part of Long Beach, however, we never had excessive noise, and everything seems to quiet down just after midnight, it is a residential neighborhood and it feels like people get that and are respectful This really was just an all around great experience.

Charming
I fell in love with the building!!! It was completely charming. It was cozy yet spacious at the same time. All the windows let in natural light and fresh air which made the space feel even bigger than it was. Parking is a little bit of an issue, but luckily the parking gods were with us! There's lots of food options within walking distance which is a plus. We enjoyed a nice walk down to the beach which was also a big selling point for us. We loved our stay and would definitely book here again!

My stay
My stay overall was good. I love that everything was walkable distance. Only issue I seen was some sketchy people and fighting going on out in the neighborhood. Parking was crazy but chevron was good not far. Neighbors were good talkative. The gentleman right below us however was constantly open the door every time we walked out and I didn’t know to get up to the house their is a flight of stairs. That was not a problem only with the ice chest my sister bring it down about 12 in the morning the guy had a problem with that. So just make sure to try to carry things up because he will say something 😒 and one last thing was refrigerator does not get cold 🥶 but beside those minor issues was a great stay

Prettiest spot close to beach!
My friend and I had a great stay in this apartment - we came to work remotely in a fun place for a few days. It was a great setup to work and the aesthetic of this apartment is too cute! Honestly I thought the apartment was even bigger than the photos made it look, which was great! It's super sunlit and a five minute walk to the beach. We had such a great stay and I hope to come back again!

Definite must stay!
Our stay was fantastic! We were made to feel really at home and Kate was fantastic with communicating with us along the way. It's a definite must! Our only problem was the parking, it fills up EVERYWHERE (including Chevron - a gas station where you can pay £8 to stay until 7am) super fast and super early every evening! Kate's idea of leaving our car and getting a Lyft/Uber was great, the only problem was each day we were so far from the house with so much more to do it would have been too expensive for us to do. A definite must stay, just stay around the area at night time to ensure relaxation when it comes to parking. Thanks Kate for an amazing stay!

Cute
Stayed here July 22-28, 2019 for our daughter dance convention. Apartment is located in the area it states in the listing, however it is at least a 25-30 minutes walk to convention center which is a long walk daily. Uber/Lyft was very convenient and reasonable. There was work being completed on the outside of the building that we were not made aware of, and woke up several days to a gentleman on a ladder peeking into the bedroom. He was able to see inside because the blinds in the bedroom do not block out viewing from outside as the spacing on the rod isn’t sufficient to block that. The kitchen has no window dressing at all. That is uncomfortable because the apartment faces another building and others can look into the unit. Drapes on the living room window are very thin and you can see both inside and out even with them closed. The couch faces the window and that was an odd set up, especially as much privacy that was lacking. It was 95 outside everyday and at least 85-90 inside. Air conditioning is not central air and you must turn the units off (located in each of the bedrooms) when you leave. Which makes the unit very hot and miserable for sleeping because it doesn’t cool properly. Too hot to cook because of the lack of cooking in the unit. It would be nice for a toaster and regular coffee maker for mornings when it is rushed and something quick is needed. All in all, apartment is cute and located in a great area. Beach was a 2.5 block walk away and was easily accessible. Restaurants and shopping are a short uber ride away near the convention center, and there are plenty to choose from. We didn’t try any of the area restaurants.

Adorable apt, Adorable neighborhood
We found Kate's apartment to be adorable and in a great neighborhood. Super friendly neighbors made us feel right at home. Everything (restaurants, convenient store, shops) is within walking distance, including the beach! The only "cons" for us: 1. the living room set up is odd, being that the couch faces another apartment building and I'd catch the neighbor looking in. hehe 2. I liked the idea of a french-press coffeepot, but I found it difficult to use, and TBH, would prefer a standard coffeemaker. Overall, I would recommend Kate's apartment if you weren't going to spend too much time in it. Chances are, that you'll be too busy exploring LBC like us, and it is a great place to lay your head. Both beds were super comfy.
