Basic low-budget hotel, very good location in quiet street in central London.
Decent value for what it is - an affordable, absolutely no frills, place to get your head down for a short stay.
Rooms small and with dated decor and furnishings, but clean and with comfortable beds.
Rooms are packed in, and some challenging stairs to be tackled, especially while carrying luggage.
Reception staff highly variable. First one very friendly and helpful, second one largely indifferent, third one unhelpful, rude and verging on hostile. Can only assume he is somehow related to owners, because can't imagine he would be employed otherwise.
Luggage room not secure. There are signs saying that you leave luggage at your own risk, and they mean it. Door is not locked, so literally anyone could walk in and take your bags - especially if the unhelpful guy happens to be on reception.
This hotel was an option of last resort for us, and it should be for you too. Could be good with better staff and a bit of TLC on the decor, but currently just an adequate place to stay a night or two at a lower cost.
