Well, hey! Y'all, welcome to Uncle Jim's! This land has been in our family since 1912, and we're glad to share it with you! Nestled in the hollers and hay fields of Eastern Kentucky, we're proud to call this place home and raise up the SEVENTH generation to live here.
Rise and shine in the picturesque rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, with our roosters' crows (or draw the shades and black-out curtains and sleep in, the chickens aren't really that loud!). Enjoy provided farm-fresh eggs for breakfast and relax on the oversized covered porch with a cup of complimentary Keurig-style coffee or cocoa. Perhaps a baby lamb or goat kid will join your party? When in season, various garden-fresh produce may be available - taste the difference! Also provided is a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, microwave, stove/oven/range, pots and pans and cooking utensils, and all the necessary plates, silverware and glasses/cups - just as if you were at home.
Only 15 minutes to Manchester, 20 minutes to London, or 30 minutes to Corbin and all the area has to offer - such as Levi Jackson Wilderness Park, the Daniel Boone National Forest, and the Corbin Arena.
Or venture a little further out and explore Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, "The Niagara of the South"! Maybe go fishing and cool off in the waters at Laurel River Lake? Or step back in time at the Hensley Settlement at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park! Is mountain music more your style?
Visit Renfro Valley, which hosts concerts year-round for older and newer ears alike. All four are an easy hour's drive away, or less.
Many nearby events throughout the year are sure to pique your interest, such as The World Chicken Festival, NIBROC, The Redbud Ride, Native American Heritage Festival, Hillbilly Days, and The Colonel Fest (as in Colonel Sanders - did we mention that the first KFC was in Corbin, and you can visit the museum 7 days a week and order your favorite chicken dinner to bring back).
Of course, you're also welcome to just stay in and relax. Draw yourself a bath and read a good book, or binge your favorite show that you haven't had time for. Your vacation is yours to enjoy as our guests.
Note to guests, this is a family-run homestead. You will have the guest house all to yourself. We homeschool, and in addition to our children, have critters running loose most of the day. As such this disclaimer is necessary:
