Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Cleanliness in the Junior suite was an issue but housekeeping was quick to fix the several concerns I found (bathroom floor and toilet not cleaned, stains on the bedsheets and pillows, floors messy, etc). Of note, there was a bad smell in the room upon check in, I asked a housekeeper for room spray and he repeated to me that “the room spray was only for special guests”… This comment made me uncomfortable and unwelcomed…as all guests should be treated special and a clean room should not smell like food and body odor. I brought this issue to the managers attention and he unapologetically and sternly mentioned that another attendant provided the spray and insinuated that the worrisome comment should be a nonissue. I felt more of a burden than a guest at the Akatoki, I would have left immediately after check in but I booked a non refundable rate (lesson learned). They did offer a $75 off for my two-night stay. Although the hotel is Japanese-decor, the service, cleanliness, and hospitality is not. Compliments to the woman that provided turn-down service she put efforts to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
