As they say, "you get what you pay for". The property is very dated, the reception lady was very nice. As the property faces a main road it is very noisy all the time. The biggest issue i have was that i got biten extensively all over my feet and legs while sleeping....over a dozen bites. That is the reason for the poor rating.

It’s not often we do London so we wanted to do it on a budget. Whilst the hotel is a bit tired it was warm and comfortable. The staff were brilliant and it’s ideally placed to get into the West End on foot very easily. We were able to drop off our bags before check in as we had theatre tickets booked for afternoon performance. You get what you pay for. It was fine for one night. Great rates. Thanks for a good stay.

BED BUGS! My partner were here for one night and were covered in bed bugs by 6am in the morning, and left as soon as we could. There were big stains on the boxspring, the cupboard was borden, the shelf in the bathroom was also broken/slanted so items would just slide right off. You couldn't open the shower door whilst inside the bathroom (it would hit the toilet) so you could only enter the shower by having both the bathroom door and shower door opened. do not recommend

Upon arrival we were directed to a room in the basement, which you had to pass through an office to reach. The ‘ensuite’ we had was outside of the room and while we were the only ones who were apparently going to use it, the bathroom/bedroom doors were only separated from the office by a small curtain. Upon request we were given a new room with a true ensuite, but it felt weird that the basement room was even an option. The new room was okay. The bathroom facilities felt clean (through the dirty extractor fan has led to ceiling mould issues), and the bed frame and mattress looked fairly new. The location was great for the museum and several tube lines. Wouldn’t spend more than one night here, but the staff were friendly and it was an okay place to rest our heads for one night.

BED BUGS! DON’T STAY HERE!
My three friends and I only stayed at the Garth Hotel for a few hours. As we were going to bed on the first night, bed bugs started crawling all over us and our beds. The hotel offered us another room for ONE night for only TWO of us! They couldn’t help us find another hotel even though it was almost midnight and they wouldn’t give us a refund even though the room was uninhabitable. Need I say more???!

It’s a great big house with rooms that are rented out, water damage very visible everywhere! And I’m not sure how safe the plugs and extension was right by the head of the bed where you’d normally leave a bottle of water! There is no lift, I was top floor not ideal with a suitcase and no one to help take it up! The receptionist was lovely on check in! Location can’t fault that! I’ve stayed in better kept hostels for cheaper

We had a room Vernon Dudley would have been proud of. It was a cupboard. The double bed was up against a wall and the pillows kept falling off the bed all night. It done it's job and the staff were friendly but I might try somewhere else next time I'm in London, or ask for a different room that isn't just a long closet.

I liked the location. However, there was no heat in the room. There was no hair dryer. We only got one bath towel replaced for two of us. The floors were uneven making falls possible. The bathroom had no towel bars. It really was sub par.

Bed bugs
The hotel has a bed bug infestation. I made two bookings for two consecutive weeks, but after I stayed and got completely covered in bug bites, I asked for a refund for the second booking which was yet to start in a week's time. The reply was that bed bugs are a London problem and that they won't refund it. They don't even want to refund me for the future stay although they admitted they have bed bugs. I am now out of pocket now as I have to pay again for another hotel next week. I should have read the reviews warning about bed bugs but didn't. I hope this review saves the skin and homes of other potential guests who are reading it.
