I never write reviews, but I’ll make an exception here. As a gold member of Hotels.com I’m surprised this accommodation has been allowed to be a part of their selection.
The apartment is at basement level, in a terrace that is undergoing renovation; there is scaffolding covering the entire building (Google maps for a true image). The stairs are very steep going down, and the small, filthy landing area is used as either 1) illegal fly tipping or 2) a place for the owner to dump their garbage, as we were greeted with stinking large black garbage bags just outside the front door daily, which just kept piling up. The first thing you notice as you enter the front door is the numerous rat/mice traps (probably here for the garbage no doubt) and the overpowering smell of air freshener.
Heady by the overpowering fumes, we turned off the air fresheners, which were strategically placed to mask the putrid smell of mould and damp. A definite case of choosing between a rock and a hard place: Get high on the air fresheners, live with the mouldy smell, or open the window to smell the aroma of rotting garbage. Choices!
The pictures aren’t a true representation of the property. The bathroom is filled with black mould, shower is broken, bedsheets are worn, kitchen is tiny & old & in general in poor condition. You don’t want to cook there. We were charged 210 pounds per night –we’ve stayed at 5 star Montcalm Hotel for the same price. Be warned! PS.Dont open the cupboards! TV doesn’t work!
