This is the first time that we have been VERY disappointed with our choice of property from HomeAway and its associated companies.
Although parking is unrestricted in the street, finding an empty space is a lottery. The owner indicated that either she or the cleaner, would meet us, this did not happen. We were also told that milk would be left, it wasn’t and we therefore could not even have a cup of tea after our journey!
We found that the pictures on the site must have been taken at least 15 years ago, judging by the fact that we could not see through the front windows due to overgrown vegetation and the net curtains and blinds were dirty and torn. This apartment requires a complete redecoration or drastic spring-clean. We were requested [in the small print] to leave cash for the cleaner, which we did VERY reluctantly due to it being in the contract This is supposed to be a self-catering apartment and yet no microwave, small plates, egg cups or usable casserole dish are provided. There is no draining facility next to the sink or place to hang tea towels to dry.
We found that although bed linen might have been changed, there was an ugly stain on the mattress and the actual pillows were grease stained and visible through the case. The bed was king-size, but the bedroom itself only just, by about 30cm each side.
The garden was unusable as the grass was not cut, there were overflowing bins, empty boxes and discarded equipment.
In the lounge, my wife hurt her back when sitting down on the sofa. There is a wood support right in the middle of the “upholstered” seating area, with only the seat covering over it and no padding. This could be extremely dangerous.
We booked for 3 nights, but we are use too much higher standards and left after only 2.
