We had a great holiday here, unfortunately with the timing of the holiday (Liverpool had just gone into tier 3 Covid lockdown) we did not get the holiday we planned but we still managed to explore the village and surrounding pathways. The cottage was spotless and the owners made us very welcome, nothing was to much trouble for the owners. The cottage has an amazing history and it has been lovingly restored by the current owners, the low beams and curved walls really add to the atmosphere of the cottage. The kitchen and bathroom are modern and we wanted for nothing, the welcome cake and eggs were most appreciated. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

A really lovely cottage which is just so cosy! Julie and Simon are very helpful if the need arises, and had made a wonderful job of decorating it for Christmas. The garden is safe and enclosed so we don’t have to worry about our dog Ralph. The log burner is great and a bonus that all logs are included. This was our third holiday at the cottage and we have a fourth one booked. I really can’t fault it. We had a wonderful Christmas!!

An excellent historical cottage perfectly located for access to numerous sights and attractions.
An excellent historical cottage perfectly located for access to numerous sights and attractions. There is a cheap and regular bus to Liverpool from village, with so much to do there it makes it stress free. Rain or shine you will not be disappointed with the amount you can see and do in the area. The cottage is lovely with the right balance of old world charm and modern amenities. Only have two slightly negative points, wi-fi is there but extremely intermittent and during daytime planes go over quite low regularly (which my wife loved but some may not). Overall loved it.

We needed to take my mam , dad and their dog Ben on a holiday break that was within an hours drive of Manchester. My mam has arthritis , my dad has dementia ,limited mobility needing to use a wheel chair for longer distances .Finally, their dog cannot be let off the lead as he runs away and may not come back !!!! Simon and Julie were their to greet us as we arrived ; they couldn't have been more helpful !!! The cottage both inside and out together with the grounds and surroundings were actually better than the pictures on the website could show! The fixtures, fittings, equipment in the cottage were second to none. But most importantly, this was not just a holiday cottage, Julie had been meticulous in making this cottage into a home from home. The details, the history, the giant who had lived there, the atmosphere made the cottage magical! To top it all off, the beautiful large garden was fully enclosed .Ben the dog was able to run freely ,spending time watching the two ponies in the padlock next door while we had our binoculars watching the planes coming into land at the local airport ! And no,the planes weren't very noisy, were infrequent and watching them was quite exiting, particularly the small propeller planes !!! We didn't leave the village for the four days we were there. We didn't need to. This was about giving my mam and dad a very special holiday experience they thought they may never have again. This holiday was fare beyond our expectations !!!!!!! Thank you to Julie and Simon From David, Paul ,Ron, Joan and Ben the dog

Well what can we say.
Well what can we say. We just had the best week ever @ the childe of Hale cottage. Such a lovely village with a lovely pub & bistro close by. The cottage itself was spotless and my family especially my children loved it along with our dog Elsa. Julie & Simon the owners were brilliant and couldn’t be any more helpful. We will certainly be back to see lovely Hale again.

The cottage was stunning and you can actually feel the history in it which I loved. The location of the cottage is absolutely perfect for a peaceful getaway, the garden is beautiful and the ponies and the chickens just at the back were the icing on the cake for my two Grandchildren. Bev who was looking after the cottage for Julie and Simon was so lovely and had even baked us some lovely little cakes for our arrival. We will definitely be booking the cottage again.

The cottage lives up to all the photographs.
The cottage lives up to all the photographs. It really is a classic 'Olde Worlde' thatched cottage. Very comfortable but beware the low doorways to the downstairs bedroom and the dining room. Excellent front and rear gardens so weather permitting sitting out is a pleasure. It's quite close to Liverpool Airport and there is a morning and evening peak of half a dozen flights which added to our interest. Well equipped and would recommend this cottage very highly.

Third visit to this lovely peaceful cottage.
Third visit to this lovely peaceful cottage. Very dog friendly with a large enclosed wrap-around garden; well equipped kitchen, small but comfortable dining room and cosy lounge with a great wood burner. Two pubs within a couple of minutes walk; Co-op, Chinese, chip shop etc within a couple of minutes drive. Only downside is the poor wi-fi which is good for searching but nothing more. Quiet village with many lovely old thatched cottages, a large park and enclosed dog run, and a great round walk down to the River Mersey which takes up to an hour. Half hour drive to Chester, not much more into Wales. Bus stop for Liverpool 30 seconds walk. Fully recommended, will be back.

Beautiful, quirky and cosy cottage.
Beautiful, quirky and cosy cottage. Great location near the pub for great food, and near the bus stop for frequent trips to Liverpool! Owners are friendly and nearby if you need them. Comfy beds, clean and warm, couldn't fault it. Liverpool is a fab city, lots to do and lots of it free. Recommend a visit to the Imagine exhibition about John and Yolo at the Liverpool life museum.
