Simple but effective; great location
Basic, but very good value considering the location (which is perfect for the city centre and Rossio station) and a fairly generously sized room. Friendly service and a 24-hour reception desk, which is a bonus for guest-house style accommodation. Beds were comfortable, and everything in the bathroom clean and functional. The access is via a set of pretty steep stairs, and some of the facilities are a bit dated (the TV and furniture had clearly seen a few years), but those are minor issues for me, and so I'd happily stay here again.

Perfect location in the center of the city.. if you're not too choosy, this will do with the price that it offers.

Nice location
It's uncomfortable in winter and cold days as there was no heating in room. As a result water vapours collects inside window causing dampness. Rooms not recommended during rains as well due to dampness. Television set could show around 4 channels only, some were not clear. Most staff are very helpful and friendly. Cleaning services is one of the best I ever saw. Toilets, bathrooms and room always maintained clean but recommend room key to be kept at the desk before leaving hotel in mornings. Location is very close to restaurants, churches, rossio square, taxi, and most places at walking distance or close to transport links. No breakfast provided in hotel but lot of cafes around.

The front lady was super nice when I checked in. I arrived early, so I asked to leave my suitecase. She showed me a room if that was good, and I said ok. The room was before cleaning, but she let me put my suitecase in the room and that helped me a lot! The location is super convenient. it's little bit noisy area but it's worth it for the price.

well situated but noisy
we liked the general area but our room was very noisy. It did have 3 beds for 3 adults but we were forever tripping over each other's luggage. There wasn't enough space off the floor. We each had a carry on sized suitcase s it wasn't a large amount of luggage.

NIce hotel in the center of the action
We have stayed here before and just loved the place, the location, and the staff. If you are looking for big...no need. It is quaint, but a perfect for travelers out to see the city. You have plenty of restaurants, cafes, and stores up and down the street. Balcony is great...loved it! Metro stops are very close by...easy to walk to room!

Value for money hotel in a very central location.
The hotel was exactly what we needed. City centre location and a clean room that was serviced daily with clean towels, beds made and room tidied. We knew that we would only be in the room to sleep and use the bathroom facilities so it was ideal for us.

Find somewhere else to stay.
We booked two nights but we left after one. Pensao Modelo is in a great location but the street is so loud late at night you will not sleep for one minute. Find somewhere else, you will be happy you did.

Awesome Location
Conveniently located next to taxis, the Don Pedro IV plaza and the Hard Rock Cafe (tour pick up), this hotel was close to everything. You walk out to a row of restaurants so no need to go far. The service was great and we would go back.

We were arriving after midnight and moving on the next morning so wanted somewhere easy to find and not expensive in case the flight was delayed.The Modelo was perfect for this.We spent a further 2 nights in Lisbon later in the week but stayed elsewhere as our requirements were different.I would use it again for an overnight stop.

Hotel in centre very noisy at night
TV in room didn't work, no facilities for making a cup of tea/coffee, not recommended if looking for a good night sleep very noisy upto 5 am. Bed very uncomfortable but the room was cleaned everyday. Just a very basic hotel no eating facilities at all in hotel and outside sign says hostel.

Nice hotel in Lisbon
I had a wonderful time in Lisbon! My stay at the Pensao Modelo was great. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that this hotel doesn't have air conditioning, but I requested a fan and that worked well for me. A fair rate for a great hotel.

Awful, never again!!!
Described as a hotel but is actually a hostel. The feel of the place on walking in was not good. Although the bed was clean, there were stains on the walls, which were dirty. The light above the bed didn't work and the bathroom lights were dangerous with one bulb hangin out of the fitting and the other not working. In the shower there were wires going to an open socket!! The shower was full of mould and wasn't a pleasant experience. Ended up carrying our passports, money and champions league tickets around all day as there were no safe boxes. Did I complain at the time? No, it was champions league final weekend and you couldn't put a pin down I Lisbon it was so busy. £20 a night yes, £75 each a night NO!! Complete rip off, would never go there again and would not recommend. I paid for a hotel and got a hostel!!! Could have paid 11 euros a night for a hostel, but this was not an option with a 10 year old child. Total refund....... Yes please

Basic hotel in busy central location
Perfect central location. Basic but clean and simple if you want a central place to explore the city . Can be noisy at night but lively atmosphere. Very close to many transport links. Friendly and helpful staff.
