Geraldo did a wonderful job in providing a warm and welcoming VRBO for my long stay in Lisbon, Portugal. The unit is a beautifully decorated and well kept, located on the 8th floor for high views. This was my first time in Portugal coming from the U.S. so it was important for me to have necessities already provided for me: heating and air, stocked kitchen and bath, restaurants and store in walking distance, Netflix😊. It was definitely a necessity for me to have a workable washer and dryer. This unit didn't get enough sun for drying racks which are very common in Portugal. Light shopping, banks and a notary are conveniently located downstairs and across the street.
Just some quirky things to note. Hallway: the shared hallway (outside unit before elevator) have motion sensitive lights that timeout in less than 10 seconds. So when you're entering/exiting the unit it's usually to complete darkness. Appliances: You may have to use the breaker to turn on appliances for the first time. I had to contact the owner for the washer dryer because none of the instructions on hand were in English. Internet: Required several resets but I think that is experienced countrywide.
A couple communication gaps as to the unit as advertised. My understanding was that I paid for the entire unit (2 bed 2 bath) but when I arrived I found the second bedroom and bath were locked. Later told there was an additional fee to open the rooms which was not made clear in the ad. Wasn't happy about that. Owner made concessions which was good. Also, the ad mentions short distances to the metro and train but that's only by car. It took approximately 15 minutes to walk to and from the train which is tough when you rely on the public transit systems. As a tourist it was difficult to scout downtown Lisbon to then have to walk back to the unit. The closest metro is in the next city Muscavide which is about 24 minutes walking. There are plans in the making to ad a metro to Sacavém, when I'm unsure. I didn't want to spend so much on a Uber or Bolt either. Bus stops are close by but highly unpredictable. Perhaps it's best to have a vehicle but their parking lots are always full. You'll hear honking often because drivers park behind other drivers blocking their vehicles because no places to park.
Overall, a nice stay that definitely gave me the experience of a local as opposed to a tourist.
