Modern apartment with charm and comfort in a central but quiet location of Sintra: the market is around the corner and shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Casa José Ricardo dates from the early 20th century and has been lovingly and thoroughly renovated in recent years. Ideally suited for large families or groups of friends who want to indulge in culinary delights and the famous Portuguese wine. Relaxing starting point not far from Lisbon and the Atlantic coast.

Very comfortable beds; gourmet kitchen, terrace and patio (with Weber BBQ), 3 spacious bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. Super fast (500mega) internet, cable TV incl. HBO; books, games and maps. Baby cot, high chair and stair railing: everything there!

The historic tram takes you from here to the beach. All of Sintra's attractions are easily accessible and you are still not in the middle of the hustle and bustle and have a good night's sleep. You can explore the region easily by bus and train - the train station is in 450m - so you don't need a car if you want to do without one on your holiday.

More information: The apartment is on the 1st floor and top floor of the villa. On the first floor two spacious living rooms with terrace, large kitchen and a bathroom. On the 2nd floor are the three bedrooms and two modern bathrooms. Central heating.

Sintra is a magical place, UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers an almost village-like environment, a lot of peace and quiet, but also palaces, castles and parks as well as varied leisure activities. The sea is 12 km away; you can reach the centre of Lisbon in 40 minutes by train. Trains run every 20 minutes.

Feel at home: In the house you will find books and games, TV, and fast internet. Complete modern kitchen equipment (stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer) as well as oil, vinegar and spices. Perfect for a holiday with your family or group of friends.

You can park your car in our garage or the reserved space in front of it.

Wellness, beaches and water sports, culture: Sintra offers a wide range of different beaches: beaches suitable for families with fine sand, rocky beaches with rich flora and fauna, and beaches suitable for surfing and bodyboarding: in particular Praia do Guincho and Praia Grande, where several world championships in these sports have been held.

The Sintra mountains, the "Serra de Sintra", is a granite mountain range of about 10 km in length, which rises abruptly in the wide plain in the north and reaches the mouth of the river Tejo in the south. Its western extension to the Atlantic Ocean is the Cabo da Roca - a headland which is the westernmost point of continental Europe. The Serra de Sintra is home to cultural monuments from a whole range of different eras, from prehistoric times to the present day. Thanks to its unique microclimate, Sintra has some of the most beautiful parks in Portugal, many with a certain romantic touch, and dense green vegetation that gives the region a majestic atmosphere.

Perfect!
It’s rare we don’t have some complaint about a place we stay but this site was simply perfect. Clean, fully equipped with things like coffee/tea, cooking oil, spices, and other handy odds and ends. The location was slightly out of the tourist area but an easy walk to everything, including the grocery. Dagmar was great to work with and even checked in with us midway through our week-long stay. We will definitely return if we travel to Sintra again.

Perfect Family Stay in Sintra
Imagine a vacation home where everytime you think of something you might need or have forgotten, it was provided! We just finished a 2 week trip to Portugal and Austria and the kids and adults all voted unanimously that the best part of the trip was our stay in the house in Sintra. The house is big, beautiful, and well-stocked with everything from books, games, and videos, to cooking tools, seasonings, shampoo, electric adapters, etc. It is a wonderful and quiet location, with a scenic view, lovely side yard for outdoor dinners and a balcony designed for a quiet cup of coffee or breakfast. The rooms all had wonderful windows and light. It put us all at ease and made our vacation both fun and relaxing! It is a very special place and we are so lucky to have found it!

Charming!!!
Our group was in Sintra for a friend’s wedding and we searched for a house to fit us all. Even before we arrived, we felt taken care of. The check-in process was so easy and the house was absolutely perfect! It’s so charming and quirky, absolutely spotless with all the comforts of home. Each room was spacious and comfortable. The house is right near everything you’d need to walk to, yet quiet enough as not to disturb rest. We loved it here and highly recommend it to anyone. Dagmar is a superb host and even had chocolate cake waiting for us upon arrival! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Fantastic stay!
This charming and comfortable home had everything we needed and more to accommodate our needs. The location was perfect and having a place to park was especially helpful for us! They even thought of young children and our son had a blast playing in his room and putting on puppet shows for us. The responsiveness was also positive and put us at ease through out our stay. We hope to come back some day and would highly recommend this location. You can’t beat three bedrooms that all have their own bathroom and an additional bedroom plus so much more space to talk, eat, and enjoy!

fabulous sintra house
We stayed at Dagmar's property for 10 days and it was a wonderful base for us to explore Sintra. The house is super spacious and very comfortable with a huge kitchen and living area, plus a separate dining room in addition to the four large bedrooms. It is decorated well and feels modern but also very comfortable. One of the things we really appreciated were the light blocking window shades. It helped everyone sleep well. And we found the beds to be very comfortable. Our girls had a blast here. They loved the loft bed and the dollhouse was great fun for them. There were a few dolls but we happened to also be traveling with some small ones so that worked out. The kitchen has everything you need to self cater, but the property is also walking distance to restaurants and cafes. We had a car and there is a spot to park in front of the garage space. We walked into old Sintra in about 20-25 min which has loads of wonderful restaurants and shops. We used our car to visit Sintra's beautiful beaches and a couple of the castles. It's a great central spot to explore this gorgeous city from. We were so glad we stayed longer here so we could really enjoy Sintra. And Dagmar was a pleasure to book with--very responsive and helpful. The house is built over 3 levels with some very steep creaky stairs so if stairs are a problem this is not the place for you. Also the openings in the stair railing are large enough for a crawling baby/new walker to fall thru. Our 3 year old probably could have slipped through as well, but she was old enough to listen and we kept her downstairs for the most part when she was awake. There is a gate provided for the stairs which was great, but just be aware of this if you go with a small child.

Perfect lovely home in Sintra!
Casa Jose Ricardo is perfect! The apartment is beautiful with spacious, sunny rooms. The bedrooms are very comfortable and easily accommodate privacy for a family or friends traveling together. There is a wonderful children's room with a crib and a magical bunk bed play house. The main areas include a living room, sitting room, a dining room/game area and a large well equipped kitchen. There is something for everyone to enjoy. We had a cooking workshop with a Portuguese chef recommended by Dagmar that was awesome. We all learned a lot and the food was unique and delicious. The house is immaculately clean and the bathrooms are lovely. While it is tempting to spend your time relaxing at Casa Jose Ricardo, Sintra and the surrounding area are filled with historic sites, hiking trails and amazing restaurants all within walking distance. For a 20-30minute drive (or train ride), you will be in Lisbon or on a spectacular beach with expansive sand and waves. Our family fell in love with Sintra and Portugal. We are already planning our next visit. Dagmar is the best hostess. She responds quickly to any questions. Driving directions, parking and entry instructions are provided clearly. The whole experience is so easy. You will feel at home immediately in Casa Jose Ricardo.

Wonderful house in Sintra!
This is such a wonderful house close to the historical attractions of Sintra. My son and I and another family stayed here for 2 nights and we were so comfortable. The rooms are huge, the kitchen is well stocked if you feel like staying in to cook (a well stocked grocery store is a 5 minute walk from the house), the bathrooms are luxurious. Every nook and cranny was spotlessly clean. The owners have even provided plenty of games, books and dvds so you will not be at a loss for entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dagmar's house and hope to return again in the future.

Magical
Such a beautiful property in a truly magical town. Very convenient to the train station which seemed very central to all of our activities. Everything was considered in preparing for guests - all the way to the peach bubble bath waiting for me after a long day travelling. Kids will love this place as it has all the amenities to keep them occupied from a lofted bunk bed with a play area and toys and stuffed animals and games. Also a real crib not just a playpen was a lovely surprise. Plenty of space to spend time together or have time alone. It was absolutely perfect and I would highly recommend!!! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Perfect place to stay in Sintra
We stayed at Dagmar’s home in Sintra at the beginning of our trip. Sintra is a perfect way to begin or end a trip to Portugal. It’s a bit magical. Upon our arrival we were met by Dagmar who had squeezed fresh orange juice for us from oranges she bought at the market! She showed us her lovely home and talked about local things to do as well as restaurants to go to. We loved our stay here and spent plenty of time on the balcony over coffee or wine. The house is bright and comfortable. Though there were only two of us the home can easily accommodate a large party or family. We went Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira. Both are must sees. We walked for miles and miles each day and loved every minute! You must go to the restaurant she recommended Taverna Cretivo! Absolutely fantastic! Thank you Dagmar.

Fantactic Apartment in Lovely Sintra
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Jose Ricardo. The apartment is spacious with 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. The kitchen is modern and well stocked with all of the amenities you need for cooking a meal. It is on a quiet street outside of the tourist activity but a short walk into the center of Sintra. There is a market and 2 grocery stores a short walk away. The train station is a short walk as are several good restaurants. Dagmar has really put a lot of thought into what her guests would need in detail. There are 2 living areas that are well furnished along with a room with an extra table and games. Everything was very clean and updated. A great place to stay. We hope to go back again.

Charming Home Away From Home
We rented this beautiful, bright, spacious-yet-cozy for our three nights in Sintra and found it was a great location, had all of the amenities and was well-appointed for our needs. We could head out on foot for the day and come back exhausted at night to sit on the terrace, have a glass of wine and recharge & relax. We enjoyed our morning coffee and appreciated that ground coffee was available for us to use. We are on a two week trip around Portugal and it was great to be able to do our wash as well. There are two great local restaurants two streets down that serve typical food and wine at a great value, too. Sintra is an enchanting & magical place to visit and we found this house was the perfect accommodation to match. Thank you Dagmar!!

Beautiful Appartment / Great Hosts
Just had a great experience recently in Sintra staying in this lovely apartment. The hosts were great! Very accommodating even with our small child and quick to respond if there were any issues. Location was also perfect. Some technical difficulties that I am sure the hosts will fix and overall the place was a bit dusty for those with allergies but overall very minor issues. We would definitely return.

Dagmar's home in Sintra is as magical as Sintra itself. The home is equipped with just about anything you could need to make your stay feel just like home. It's bright, the bedrooms are large, and the kitchen is fabulous (and wonderfully stocked). While we didn't eat in, it would have been a lot of fun to cook there. Location is a very short distance to the local market and close enough to Sintra's historic center without being directly on top of it (Iwhich was perfect for us). A big plus is the fact that Dagmar is incredibly responsive, so any questions are answered quickly. We couldn't have found a better location, house, and host for our stay in Sintra. Beautiful Sintra Sojourn
Our family of 6 enjoyed the best 4 days in Sintra at this very lovely and well-equipped home. It has an artist's vibe, beautifully decorated, very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is amazing. In a perfect location near train and walking to everything in Sintra. Dagmar communicated with us at every step and she is incredibly kind and thoughtful. I want to come back every year in April!

Great location, beautiful home!
We booked this property for four and it met all our expectations and more. Dagmar the owner went out of her way to give us travel information, to facilitate payment ahead of schedule, and to further accommodate another couple who decided to join us. The home is in an excellent location, walking distance to the historic center of Sintra and to public transport should you wish to take the train to visit Lisbon, tour the coast by coach , or grab a bus to the castles. Upon arrival Dagmar met us and showed us around (more about that later) went through an excellent binder full of information, schedules, restaurant suggestions (anything you could possibly want). She encouraged us to call her if we had further questions or concerns. A perfect host! The two story apartment and garden (unfortunately it was too blustery to take advantage of this beautiful feature) were both beyond our expectations. The exterior has maintained its old charm, the interior has been totally renovated. Pristine, bright, loads of room for 6 people to enjoy quiet time in various corners and spaces but also with enough room for everyone to sit down to chat or enjoy a meal together. There were a lot of stairs, great for working off our meals (which we needed) but they could prove difficult for people with handicaps or mobility issues. We would all highly recommend this property!
