"Playa Cativo Lodge is a wonderful place and the accommodations, food and staff were absolutely perfect. It was nice to be so close to the gulf which was calm, warm, sandy and perfect for swimming. My only complaint was that the entire front area of the lodge has been landscaped with grass and ornamental plants, many of which are not native. Because of this large open area few birds or animals come near the lodge. Bird watching was disappointing compared to lodges that have left the rainforest...

"The property is wild and wonderful! They are really not joking about the trek to get in there, but that is part of why it's so great once you are there. That road is something, and then parking is a bit from the tree house. We saw all kinds of wildlife and enjoyed both sunny and stormy weather. It had an immersion feel for sure. "This hotel is located in a beautiful town in the mountains with an elevation of about 3500. The place is operated by a very nice couple. I stayed here with my wife and one of our sons. We really enjoyed the stay. There is a BBQ restaurant just across the street from the hotel. We had dinner there and loved it as well. "
