We very much enjoyed our stay here. The central location made it easy for us to explore the whole island, from Ha'ena to Waimea Canyon. We had no issues turning left or right out of the resort onto the highway (as I had read in some reviews of KBR). The property was clean and beautiful, with perfect sunrise views (in January). We loved the pools, enjoyed breakfast at Naupaka Terrace, and had wonderful massages on the beach. Great resort!
The room itself was very nicely decorated, with new looking, plush carpet. Everything was clean, smelled good, and there was minimal rust (based on what we saw around the island, it would be unrealistic to not see any), and aside from a couple of tiny ants we saw no other pests in the room. We didn't use many of the extra room amenities, but what we saw looked to be in good condition (except we couldn't find the pump for the air mattress -- the owner offered to rectify that for us, but our 10 year old daughter fit comfortably on the chaise). The room is well situated on the first floor, with a lovely view (though only a small bit of the ocean in the view). It was a few short steps from the room to the pool area, and a few more to the beach (which isn't really swimmable, but was lovely to walk along). Shower pressure was good, the bed was comfortable, and the room was quiet.
The host, Michael, was excellent with communication, and sent a wonderfully detailed email before we departed with what to expect, along with some local recommendations.
We did have a little snafu at check-in. All of the details said a 3pm check-in, but the front desk insisted it was 4pm. Since we had plans in Poipu at 5pm, we were anxious to check in and get changed. Fortunately another lobby attendant was more helpful and checked if the room was cleaned, and let us in after confirming it was. (We actually stopped by around 1:30 to see if early check in was available and that employee said to come back at 3... Then the agent when we returned at 3, plus another woman with her, insisted it was 4 pm). Just be aware if you have plans the evening you arrive.
All told, we'd 100% stay at this resort, and in this unit, on a future visit to Kauai.
