Please note: No children except babes in arms.. Welcome to School Cottage, a truly unique and gorgeous terraced country cottage in the quiet village of Newbiggin-in-Bishopdale. Bishopdale is a centrally located dale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park with easy access to all the attractions of the area. School Cottage was built in 1880 with high ceilings and tall windows and, as the name suggests, the first floor was used as a school room in Victorian times. Many of the original features have survived and the property has been thoughtfully renovated to preserve its character whilst providing every comfort. The ground floor has oak flooring throughout and the open plan kitchen, living and dining area boasts dual aspect windows with original shutters, a cosy wood burner in a stone fireplace and period style chandeliers. There is also Wi-Fi, DVD player, stereo and TV with Freesat, perfect for curling up on the comfy sofa after rustling up a romantic meal for two in the well-equipped kitchen. There are spacious porches to the front and rear which are handy boot rooms, with space to hang coats and walking gear. At the rear is a pretty flagged courtyard with bistro table and chairs, perfect for a spot of tea on a sunny afternoon. Upstairs is a light and airy bedroom with a king size bed and far reaching views. The en-suite bathroom has underfloor heating and heated towel rail, with a period style roll-top bath as well as the shower cubicle.
Newbiggin is a tiny village with a small waterfall, friendly residents and a busy farm and stables, which means there are often horses passing by or grazing in the field opposite. The surrounding area is ideal for walks from the door to the villages of West Burton or Aysgarth. The local pub is a 5 minute walk away and heartily recommended for its local ales and great food. The busier market towns of Hawes, Leyburn, Richmond and Grassington are all within easy driving distance, offering an array of shops, restaurants and tearooms to explore. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Cosy cottage that's well equiped in a lovely dale location.
Cosy cottage that's well equiped in a lovely dale location. Good walks from the door. Good pub nearby. Parking is tight if you have a large car but there's parking in the layby's near to the house. Could have been a little cleaner in some areas

This is a perfect little cottage in a perfect location for walks from the door.
This is a perfect little cottage in a perfect location for walks from the door. The finish of the fixtures and fittings is superb and everything is provided. The cottage is easy to heat and stays very warm. Be aware that only enough fuel for one fire is provided. We had to go back to Leyburn to buy kindling and logs. This is not made clear on the property listing where it says fuel for the fire is provided. That aside, this property provided the ideal base for a magical week in the Dales
