The hotel seemed reasonably priced and well located to break our journey from Calais to Brittany. We'd therefore booked a family room - with a double, 2 single beds and a cot - some months before our stay.
When we arrived at the hotel (at around 7:30pm), we were told that we were being "upgraded" to two separate rooms as the family room wasn't available. Despite being skeptical, we went up to the rooms, assuming there would be a link-door between the two rooms. There wasn't! They'd given us one double and one twin room - totally unsuitable for a family with 3 young children! We couldn't really leave 3 children under 7 in a room on their own and it seemed the only option would be for my wife and I to sleep in separate rooms. (I would also mention that the rooms were incredibly sparse, which reminded me of an youth hostel!)
We complained at reception but they said that there were no alternative rooms as they'd given our family room to someone else. No apology. Eventually we managed to get them to give us a triple room into which they managed to squeeze another single bed. In truth, this was probably a fire hazard as there was hardly any floor space left and the bedroom door wouldn't open fully past the additional bed! But given that it was by now getting late, we didn't have any option but to accept this solution.
On the positive side, they charged us for a double room rather than a family room. The 3 bedrooms we saw were also clean enough.
