This is the second time we have stayed in Chalet Snowdon at this time of year and enjoyed it just as much. As a party of 11 people, consisting of 3 children (aged 4, 8 and 11) and 8 adults, we found Chalet Snowdon accommodated us very comfortably. Real assets were the number of good bathrooms and the great dining area , where we all ate for the majority of evenings.
The children ( and big kids) would probably add the table football , electronic games and board games.
The weather was beautiful for walking , which, surprisingly the children loved and walked for miles. Favourite walks being to the lake and up the mountain to the restaurant Chalet De La Masse for lunch....we ventured up there several times, the steeper way taking about 35 minutes from the chalet and the longer walk on the path, taking about 45 minutes.
We also drove to a nearby lake for the day, about an hour away in Bozel. This had activities for children, swimming areas and a bar/restaurant........an enjoyable day out.
It was extremely useful to have two supermarkets within 15 minutes walking distance and they provided all that we needed.....although we also drove once, to the big supermarket 30 minutes away..
Great too, to have restaurants within the same walking distance...would recommend La Haut, Le Bistrot Des Cimes, as well as the Chalet De La Masse. Unfortunately the pizza restaurant, a few minutes walk away, was closed for July this year.....it was very handy last year for quick snacks, or a drink, and also owned 2 goats, which wandered around nearby ....we missed seeing them this time.
I would certainly recommend Chalet Snowdon for all age groups , and hope to return there again......it would be lovely to see it in the snow and it must be an absolute joy for skiers, being in such a fantastic area.
