perfect in every way
We were so delighted with our villa. It felt like home. The walk into town requires some stair climbing abilities but we welcomed that after boatloads of wine and pasta. The kitchen is well equipped and after the first week the stairs into town don't even register. The view was magnificent and we woke up every morning singing O Sole Mio. There are secret paths everywhere and if you are adventurous, you will find a shortcut into town and a trail that takes you to a beautiful beach in a hidden cove. (Ask the locals how to get there-it requires some fence hopping)
Lerici is tricky to get in and out of but it's a short boat ride to Cinque Terre and it doesn't get the tourist gridlock like the Cinque Terre towns.
After a few days, you are on a first name basis with the baker, the Pasta maker and the owner of the Enoteca.
Try and find the Pasta shop tucked into an alley. They have all manner of fresh pasta and the cheese-stuffed gnocchi were a revelation.
We took full advantage of all the fresh herbs growing around the villa - oregano, rosemary, sage, thyme...A few lemons on the lemon tree.
All we think about is returning. Oh! and do try a Pimms at Bar Corona. They are unique and addictive.
