Cycle via the voie verte to Preuilly sur Claise to enjoy lunch at le Lavoir.
A walk around the sculpture park in Beaulieu les Loches and either lunch at the les Javaneses Guingette in Summer or at our favourite l'Estaminet.
Loches is a must see and only 30km away so many of our guests head there on bikes however parking is also easily found.
Market day is Wed and Sat morning and provides a fabulous atmosphe to the historic town centre.
There is so much to see and recommend in Loches you may want to return!
Highlights for us are:
The circular stroll from parking via the Jardin Public and up through the historic town to the Donjon and Palais Royale from where the views are superb.
Once you have built up an appetite..
The George retaurant - brunch or just top grub.
le P'tit Restau - small but perfectly formed seasonal, cooked from scratch, local and organic - must book!
Sforza - delicious pizza
Café des Arts - the best place to pause and watch the world go by, Whether for coffee, apéros, lunch, excellent service all year round. We love their local and seasonal grazing boards to snack on.
Cycling along the voie verte on a Sunday morning 12km to Descartes to the lively market. Coffee and a croissant watching the world go by followed by either buying the makings of a great picnic to take to the park or river or a hot roast chicken or Paella to return to the apartment with.
We are located close to where the Brenne national park starts, a vast wildlife sanctuary made up over over 1000 lakes. Great for immersing in nature, birdwatching, walking, cycling (mostly flat!) and a delicious lunch at the Gabriere or le Petit Gab or in the centrally located Maison du Parc - the local specialty to try as a sharing plate is Fritures de Carpe - deep fried baby carp.
North of our apartment there is a wealth of great days out where with a little planning you never need to take the same road twice.
