Beautiful home in a wooded area
We met the owner at a nearby hotel since the short drive up to the house would have been difficult to find. Lasarte-Oria is not a tourist Mecca but San Sebastián isn’t too far away and taking the train is the best way to get there. It’s amazing that this house is on the VRBO rental program with its beautiful classy decor and art. Once you arrive, you’re not aware that you’re so close to Lasarte. There’s a lovely garden and it’s surrounded by woods. Up the hill are farms so the felling is quite rural. The hosts are very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend this special place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the villa! The host was great with communication and answered all of our questions promptly and with plenty of detail. The villa was absolutely beautiful, and very private. The house was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. We would definitely stay here again if we found ourselves traveling to the area again.

Very comfortable house and the host is very friendly and helpful. It is a short easy drive into San Sebastián and parking was not hard as parking areas are well marked. The stairs are a little steep for older guests, but other than that we were very happy with the house.

Lovely house but not thrilked with Lasarte.
Beautiful house and garden. Javier and Miguel were very friendly hosts and met us in Lasarte to escort us to the house. Lasarte itself was disappointing, squashed between motorways, and a difficult place to drive round.

Beautiful house close to San Sebastian
Thank you Miguel and Javier for sharing your beautiful house with us and for making us, and our small dog so welcome. We really enjoyed the garden with the dining area and the comfy seating area. The journey into San Sebastian by metro and by bus was easy and San Sebastian is a lovely city to visit. Your house is very spacious and beautifully furnished. We really enjoyed our stay.

Very enjoyable family stay
My wife and I stayed with our 3 adult children. The house is spacious and very well furnished and has a quality feel about it. The garden areas are nice and provides an idea area to eat and relax, all totally private. San Sebastian is about a 20 minute drive and Lasarte has plenty of places to food shop and eat nearby

Beautiful, art and book-filled country home near San Sebastian, Spain
My husband and I rented Javier's house with good friends with whom we vacation every few years. It was perfect for two couples or a small family, and we loved our stay here. The house is both practical and charming, and the hosts, Javier and Miguel, couldn't have been nicer. Miguel met us at an easy-to-find location and guided us through the country roads to the house. Once we settled in, they checked to see if we had any questions and were always available through email if we needed something. Since we often cook meals ourselves, we appreciated the many kitchen tools and roomy kitchen. It was also fun to explore the inside and outside of the house. The inside is filled with interesting books and art, some of it done by Javier--and we loved feeding the sheep that graze in a fenced area near the house and watching the huge slugs that appeared after a heavy rain. This is definitely country living! It was also an excellent base for exploring the Basque country with easy access to major highways to Bilbao, San Sebastian, Pamplona, Guernica, and other locations. If you are planning to visit the Basque country, this is a wonderful place to stay.

Idyllic hillside villa. Ideal base for exploring the Basque region
We spent a week at this secluded hillside villa and enjoyed every minute. In the lead up to the holiday Javier was very helpful with advice and information and Miguel met us in Lasarte-Oria town and guided us up to the house. He was very helpful and friendly, taking time to show us around the house and pointing out places of interest and beauty in the region. They were available throughout the holiday without being pushy. The house itself was stunning, as per the photos and very clean. There are modern appliances WiFi and cable TV. There are well kept gardens and nice hill walks to be had from the front door. However, a car is a must here, unless you fancy a 1km walk up the hill at the end of the day. The Basque region is beautiful, with numerous small towns dotted along the coast from Bilbao all the way to France. France is only a 30 minute drive away and easily accessible via the autoroute or coast road. The local cuisine is delicious and reasonably priced and if you fancy a bit of self catering, there's a large commercial centre in Lasarte-Oria that sells fresh local produce. The Basque people were all very friendly and helpful, wherever we went. Many thanks to Javier and Miguel for our stay. Nick & Zara

We had a lovely two week holiday. The house was comfortably furnished, though the beds were a bit hard for us, and the outside dining area and pool were a wonderful bonus. A car is essential but beautiful beaches, towns and cities are easily accessible.

An excellent property maintained to a high standard
Not having satnav, we were grateful to Miguel and Xavier for meeting us in Lasarte to escort us to the house, and we were delighted with comfort and standard of the villa. It's in a good position to explore San Sebastion and the coast, and to venture up into the Pyrenees. Our grandson enjoyed feeding the sheep each day. Thanks for an excellent week.

Lovely house in hills near San Sebastian
Great house for a small group (family or friends) to stay in, away from the bustle of the city. Convenient, well furbished, lovely hosts who did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. A car is required but parking near the local station is easy if going into San Sebastian. We used the wood-fired BBQ and also lit the house fire on cool nights. This house feels like a home away from home. Beds were a little hard for us but that might not be the case for everyone.

Wonderful home, wonderful hosts
Javier and Miguel were very kind and generous hosts lending us their beautiful home near San Sebastián. It was a great base for exploring the region-amazing countryside, beaches and of course the food and drink. We sampled many delicious pinxtos and glasses of txikoli during our visit. When back at the house great to relax in the garden listening to the birds and waterfall. Kids loved feeding the sheep. Highly recommended

Absolutely perfect!!
The house was beautiful and homey!! Kitchen was very efficient and well equipped. The grounds were gorgeous. Miguel was very helpful and the house was stocked with information on the area. Beautiful spacious house and garden in the hills
Gorgeous house and large garden in the hills outside San Sebastián. Miguel and Javier, the owners, were very welcoming and gave very helpful advice about the local area. Our children loved going to feed the sheep in the field each day! The house is spacious, beautifully decorated and immaculate, with a well equipped kitchen. The garden is lovely, great for the children to play and for us all to relax outside over meals and drinks. We loved our stay and were sorry to leave!

Perfect and Peaceful!
We spent 14 wonderful days here! The house was so beautiful, the yard and countryside absolutely stunning, the picture of country peace. Everything was as expected, and exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was well equipped, with a beautiful eating area outside where we enjoyed many meals. The pool was icing on the cake for our children. The owners, Miguel and Javier, were so kind and welcoming. Our children loved feeding the sheep every morning and visiting the dogs. The property is close to many things do and see, a perfect base for a perfect vacation: San Sebastian, Bilbao, the coast line villages, St. Jean de Luz and St. Jean Pied de Port, the Pyrenees, and the castles of Navarre, just to give you a few ideas. We would highly recommend this property and hope to return to beautiful San Sebastian someday. Thanks Miguel and Javier for many wonderful memories!!

Basque Bliss!
Javier and Miguel were the perfect hosts, and we loved our stay in their wonderful home in the Basque region of Spain. The house is spacious, gorgeously decorated and has a large, attractive garden. There is on site parking, good wi-fi and the kitchen well equipped. Three spacious bedrooms and two bathrooms ensured that even with two couples and two children we had plenty of room. We loved the outdoor BBQ/Wood grill, and cooked and ate outside often. Situated five minutes drive from the Lasarte Metro, where there is free parking, you can catch a 20 minute train into the heart of San-Sebastian, culinary capital of Spain. You can also take the coastal road West, and visit the myriad of wonderful coastal towns and beautiful beaches. We would wholeheartedly recommend this special house to anyone. Thank you Javier and Miguel for a magical stay. We will be back next year!

A wonderful hideaway near San Sebastian
We have just ended a wonderful week in this lovely property in Lasarte-Oria, about 5 miles from San Sebastian. It is nestled in the hills on a wonderfully landscaped garden-like property that is accessed by a winding narrow paved road. Privacy, tranquility, and beauty are the best descriptors of the location and the property itself. The pictures are accurate, but do not capture the full effect of the place! Javier and Miguel, the owners and operators, live just next door and are amazingly attentive and gracious. They even have five sheep grazing happily in the hills around the home and you can feed them from their supply of treats should you wish! They offered us much good advice, the most important of which is to leave your car at the foot of the hill (in free public parking) and take the bus into town! The house itself is wonderfully equipped with high quality appliances and new dish and table ware. We ate every evening meal on the gorgeous patio on the side of the house. The interior is tastefully decorated and the layout is spacious and comfortable. The upstairs bedrooms were equipped with comfy beds and lovely linens. We stayed with another couple and there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy and the location enabled us to explore the gorgeous Basque country on both sides of the border. Access to the nearby motorway couldn't have been easier. If you're planning to do the French side, we'd recommend doing this first and stocking up on the spectacular variety of foods available at the St. Jean du Luz market - the supermarkets we found in Lasarte and San Sebastian were excellent, but had limited selections of cheese, etc. We can't recommend this property highly enough, and thank Javier and Miguel for making our week in the hills of Lasarte a truly spectacular one.

Great house, great time!
We had a great time in Basque country, and would highly recommend staying at this house. The location is great for visiting San Sebastian without being in the hustle and bustle of the city, and it is also an easy drive to many charming Basque villages in Spain and nearby France. The house itself was just as pictured and described, if not nicer. We were very comfortable at the house, plenty of room for five adults and a toddler. My son loved "his room" with fun bunk beds and there were even toys for him to play with. Owners Miguel and Javier were great, very helpful and spoke good English.
