"We rented this property for 2 weeks. It was part vacation/visit son at Auburn/work remotely part time. The rental was very clean. It was a bit closer to the owners home than we expected (this was the reason for the couple of 4 stars) but they did a great job of making it as private as possible. The deck is on the opposite side of the owners home and they have a privacy curtain at the end of the front porch that blocks the view of the house as well. For the most part it was very peaceful. "Called the house guest when traveling to see if the check in time was central or eastern time but couldn’t get in touch with anyone. Went to the property after 4 on central time and entered the house and the security alarm went off. Was able to find a number to call in a Vrbo email to contact someone. The police arrived, and eventually got the alarm turned off. Several hours later I received calls from the host guest and property owner apologizing and asking if everything was okay. After that...

Only nuances, the neighborhood is run down, neighbors had very noisy dogs - while the home was pet friendly, eveytime we took our dog out the neighbor dogs barked continuously. Not the hosts fault, maybe a privacy fence or some privacy landscaping could help. We had two families one with a baby, the layout is tight, so if baby was up, so was everyone else. "We used to rent the cabins over at Highland Marina each year for my wife's birthday. They no longer allow pets, so we had to change our annual lake retreat and found this place. Blows the 3 bedroom "chalet" over at Highland out of the water :) This house is gorgeous and big, so we have rooms for us, her parents, her friends and our kids all in the same place AND Charlie the dog can stay, walk around outside and jump in the lake.
