With visibility of over 30 feet, it has gained the unofficial title of the "crown jewel" of northern Wisconsin. The nearby town of Land O Lakes is just 5 miles away and situated right at the Wisconsin border with Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Land O Lakes offers almost everything you need- grocery, food/liquor, restaurants, coffee shops, tourism office, and gas stations. Whether you're visiting in summer or winter, the area offers a wide variety of outdoor enjoyment. The community is located in the heart of some of the best snowmobiling in the world, straddling the border of two incredible state systems. With Land O’ Lakes as your basecamp, you can explore Wisconsin’s incredible trails to the south and head north across the border for nearly unlimited riding in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The lake offers excellent fishing (panfish, bass, walleye, and lake trout that are unique to only Black Oak Lake). Wildlife is always roaming around, and regular visitors include beaver, fox, bald eagles, deer, and loons. If you're looking for summer lake fun there is kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, waterskiing/wakeboarding, and a public beach. We have paddle boards and kayaks at the property that guests may use at no charge. The town of Land O Lakes is a hidden gem with art galleries, 100-year old log-cabin lodges and restaurants, year round festivals, quaint pubs, a golf course, excellent nearby hiking/biking/snowmobile/ATV trails, and a visitors center to help with any of your questions on the area. Additionally, there are two world-class ski resorts within a 1 hour drive - Big Snow (Indianhead/Blackjack) in Wakefield, MI and Ski Brule in Iron River, MI. Walking, biking, snowmobiling, boating...and the town of Land O Lakes is just a 5-minute drive away with all of the essentials including grocery store! If you are visiting in the winter, it is highly recommended that you drive a vehicle with all wheel drive / 4 wheel drive. Snowfall can happen quickly and the property is located down a slightly hilly driveway, so it can be difficult to drive out in a two-wheel drive car if there is snow on the ground. Otherwise, you can also park at the top of the driveway to avoid any problems.
