"I found this property looking for a layover spot. The more I looked at the listing the more appealing it became so I added an extra night. So glad I did!! I rented a car at BZE and drive and it was unbelievably easy to find/get to. The location gives you the impression you’re very far from a city. It’s quiet and private. There is currently construction going on to add new houses, which was not an issue AT ALL. I am very happy for the owners and managers for the added revenue (and there will be a pool!) but I can say that it will be a little less private when they are booking. Nonetheless our stay was incredible and the workers were so considerate. Kenny stopped by with his daughters and they are all so wonderful! We spent only one full day so we hung out with the howler monkeys and visited the Belize zoo and wildlife education center, which is only a very easy 30 minute drive and worth a visit. The monkeys on the property were soooo cool. There is currently an adolescent who is quite curious about people and LOVES to show off. He came right up on the porch to show us his yoga moves. That said, remember they are wild animals - don’t touch or feed them and latch the doors when you leave. The crocodile only made her appearance when we were out but she’s there! Just searching for her and watching the monkeys is activity in itself! There’s a good kitchen and a restaurant about a 3 minute drive away (black orchid, where you are allowed access to the pool - great food and service!)."

"Absolutely amazing views! Staff were phenomenal and extremely friendly! Food was great, very quiet and serene! The property sits right on a lake at the mouth of the river that runs right into the Mayan ruin of Lamanai one of the most beautiful ruins there is. It’s very quiet at night and very peaceful. It was my first time and first night in Belize and I was blown away! The property sits about 10 mins by taxi from the center of town. I took the bus directly out front to Belize City and it was very convenient to catch the local chicken bus. I would highly recommend this place to fellow travelers. Thanks again to the entire staff! "We had the best time here. The hosts, Shanna and Kenny were great, super responsive and very helpful with planning things to do. Ernesto, one of the drivers was also fantastic and super helpful. The locals and neighbors around the house were very friendly. A grocery store was located near by and we were able to get most of what we needed to make our meals. Dee has a small bar next door and a small shop where you can get some basics. Dee was so friendly. A Howler Monkey troop came right onto the property one of the days and they were fun to watch. Another Howler Monkey troop spends most of its time across the street at Lloyd’s. Lloyd was happy to allow us on his property to check them out. The accommodations were great. There was a washer and dryer on site that worked well. We did not want to leave and we will definitely be back!"

"We arrived in the evening with another couple (we rented both Casitas) and there was only a key for one of them. Contacted the owner and they sent someone to bring the key to the other Casita about an hour later. The Casita had not been cleaned and we had to wait for it to be cleaned before we could bring our bags in. Needless to say after a long day of travel sitting in the covered porch area waiting for hours was frustrating. The Casita and grounds were as described. The Casita's themselves were inconsistently stocked with supplies. The drinking water is in 5 gallon jugs and you have to lift them up over your shoulders to put in the dispenser. There was no storage for luggage, the only cabinet is locked. We contacted the owner the day before we left stating that we heard a constant beeping underneath the Casitas the night before and was told they would have someone check on it. No one came and the beeping continued. We had to get up early (3:30) to travel to San Pedro to catch an early flight. The power went out before we got up so we were not able to take showers and had to pack up and leave in the dark. The issues we had are easily fixed. So, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. The Casitas themselves are very cute and exactly what we were looking for in a stay out of the crowded downtown area of San Pedro."
