Welcome to Hale Nalu, a beautifully updated townhome in the tranquil Puamana community just south of Lahaina. This 30-acre private paradise offers a peaceful retreat away from high-rise hotels and crowded tourist areas, yet remains close to world-class beaches and golf, unique shopping, and fabulous dining in Kaanapali and Kapalua. While the devastating 2023 fires destroyed historic Lahaina Town and impacted 40% of Puamana’s oceanfront community, including our historic Clubhouse and some homes directly next to and behind this property, Hale Nalu and the southern side of Puamana were spared, offering a safe and serene haven amidst a community in recovery.

Despite these challenges, Puamana retains its charm and unique amenities. Guests can swim at the Dolphin Pool, play tennis or pickleball, or take a three minute stroll to the shoreline, where the presence of sand varies with the tides and ocean conditions. Surf breaks fronting the Puamana community often provide great waves for surfers and body boarders alike. Hale Nalu is ideally located less than ten minutes from Lahaina’s Safeway and Foodland Farms grocery stores, the renowned Old Lahaina Luau, and a range of dining options. Enjoy exceptional restaurants such as Mala Ocean Tavern, Honu Oceanside, and Star Noodle for a more refined experience, or choose casual favorites like Aloha Mixed Plate and Coco Deck for a relaxed meal with island flair.

The master bedroom on the ground floor features a king bed, TV, and ensuite bathroom, along with a walk-in closet with a washer/dryer. Upstairs, the sunlit dormer loft comfortably sleeps five with a queen bed, two twin XL beds, and a daybed. Blackout blinds allow for restful sleep or a relaxing nap. Please note that loft ceilings are low, so please be mindful. The loft is also open to the lower level, a consideration for a family with very small children. Both ground-level bathrooms have been recently remodeled.

Outdoor living spaces invite you to embrace Maui’s beauty. Begin your day with coffee on the front lanai’s cozy hanging porch swing, or unwind in the evening on the spacious rear lanai, perfect for BBQs and private gatherings. Great location in beautiful spot!
This is a great newly renovated property! The loft comfortably sleeps 4 with plenty of extra space. Master is nice and big and private from rest of the space. We loved walking down to the pool area in the evening and look at the whales breaching right in front of us. An incredible beautiful spot, we look forward to visiting again someday!

Perfect larger family vacay property
87-1 couldn’t be more of a perfect vacation rental. The condo was well stocked with all the comforts of home and accommodated my family of 5. The front lanai is very peaceful as well as the back lanais which includes a bbq outdoor shower and all the beach toys surf boards, chairs ice chests, everything a family would need for a day at the beach. The gated community is well kept with three pools and access to the ocean. Mahalo for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home we all could feel the love your family has put into your little peace of paradise.

Great vacation
We stayed a week in Maui and we really enjoyed our rental. Everything is as shown on the pictures. We loved the backyard for our early breakfasts or late diners. This place has everything you need including boards, umbrellas and chairs for the beach. The community is very nice with tennis courts, direct access to the beach and several swimming pools. It was very quiet and relaxing. Would rent again if I come back to Maui

Best stay EVER!
We really really loved this place. Thank you so much! The location is good and the house was lovely! It was comfy for the all 5 of us, my children loved the board games and wanted to stay at home the whole time. Everything was clean and well equipped and NEW! I loved the samsung washing machine and dryer. Everything we needed were already there including beach chairs and tubes and body boards. Beddings were great and they had extra blankets in closets. We want to come back to MAUI just to stay here!

What a gem!
The condo is nestled in a quiet and clean community - with two access points to the beach. In addition, it's only a mile from front street which provides the option to be close to the action of the little town, but far away enough to feel the peace of paradise. We loved the location! In traveling with our three young daughters (12, 9 and 6), it was great to have plenty of lawn for them to play catch and run around on at the end of the day! There were also several pools that our girls loved too. The condo itself was clean, updated and had incredibly comfortable beds. The washer/dryer in the unit was an added bonus. Upon our next return to Maui, we'll definitely stay here again.

Lots of space with recent renovation and comfortable beds. The home is not Oceanside but is a short 5 minute walk through a really beautiful and quiet gated community. Location could not be beat - a few minutes drive from Lahaina and Front street activities, but just removed enough that you get peace and quiet at night. Note that both bathrooms are downstairs while multiple beds are upstairs, so be aware in case members of your party has mobility issues. House was stocked with kitchen supplies of all kinds, and basic cooking ingredients like salt, pepper, cooking oil. All appliances worked great.We were extremely pleased with the prompt communications and detailed instructions from the hosts. Questions were answered via text almost immediately. We loved our home here and can’t wait to return!

Comfortable Home in Beautiful Property
Our family stayed here for a week vacation - we had our 2 teens and their 2 friends with us. The house was great for our group. It appears to have been recently updated and was very clean. The primary bedroom on the main level was spacious, the bed was very comfortable. The kids all slept in the upstairs area, which also has its own couch - very comfy for them. The AC works well. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware for making complete meals, including baking dishes (which not all rentals have). This home is within a gated community that is really beautiful and very safe. We loved the pool located right at the ocean. At night, you can float listening to the ocean waves and look up at the Milky Way. The property is located fairly close to the main tourist area of Lahaina, perhaps a 15 min walk to the park with the old Banyan Tree. We had a rental car which was nice for grocery runs and exploring other areas of Maui. The friendly management company was very communicative and responsive. We received messages prior to our stay to give us all needed info for arrival, they made sure all was well during our stay and were even helpful when we needed an urgent care doctor for an injury. We highly recommend this home and property and would definitely stay here again!

Maui family vacation

We are a family of 6 and the house was not only beautiful but had the ideal layout for my husband and I on the main level and all 4 kids in the upstairs loft area. The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything one could need during their stay. Loved all the beach gear (chairs, surf boards, body boards, beach toys) outdoor shower, and the front and back lanais. Nice added touch to have games and a basket of current books to use. While the air conditioning was broke was part of our stay, we were notified in advance, provided with portable units, and was fixed during the stay. My only complaint was with the condo security staff. The office was closed upon our arrival on Maui and we immediately called security who indicated it was not a problem and to just go to the office anytime the next day between 9-5 p.m. We had a snorkeling excursion the next day from 7-12 p.m., went to lunch, and immediately went back to the condo to check-in around 2:30. Later that day, we received a 'courtesy notice' that we needed to registered our vehicle (already did and sticker was on van) or we would be fined yet the prior day we were given until 5:00 to register. The night of fireworks, security came by 5 minutes before the fireworks were set to go off and kicked everyone out saying that we had to go somewhere else to watch because they were closing the pool 2 hours early without any advanced notice. While I loved the complex, these 2 encounters would be reason enough to consider staying somewhere different on our next visit which is unfortunate since the condo unit was perfect in every other way.

Lovely Vacation
87-1 Pualei Drive is a perfect vacation rental. The front and back lanai have plenty of seating and shoe racks. The back lanai has an outdoor shower to clean snorkeling equipment and rinse beach sand. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, baking, and dining needs. Appliances are top-of-the-line with an oven that is both convection and conventional. We took advantage of this well-appointed kitchen to cook locally caught fish. Love the bedrooms!! Lots of pillows, crisp sheets. The windows have blackout blinds for those who are late risers or for an afternoon nap. The bathrooms are very clean, supplied with thick fluffy towels. The water pressure in the showers is guaranteed to remove the most stubborn beach sand. As for those sandy bathing suits, the full-size washer/dryer is convenient. The Puamana grounds and common areas are beautifully maintained with a plethora of exotic flowers in a riot of colors. The clubhouse is the perfect location to watch the sunset over the island of Lanai. So, grab your favorite snacks and liquid libation and head over to the club house. Besides the beach, there are 3 pools for swimming or sun worshiping. Snorkeling is great in the water next to the property. It is like swimming inside an aquarium of colorful fish. The reefs around Maui are a must, so buy that special reef sunscreen that does not harm fragile reefs. The Internet is super-fast so you can stream all your favorite shows or watch them on the big screen TVs. Also, there are a large rolling cooler and boogie boards for taking to the beach. The property is in a gated community with guards watching the property and ready to help with any problems. The main clubhouse is stunning next to the water with a large patio area and table, where you can take your meals, or just sit and enjoy the fantastic view and the sunsets. We cannot wait to return…

The beds are amazing and I wanted to take the master setup home with me! We would definitely stay here again. Our suggestions- update the provided beach gear and provide more beach towels. What was there was cheap and/or missing/falling apart. If we had known this ahead of time we would have rented gear. Also, we experienced a power outage the night before our departure (it was a large area outage) and realized the unit is not equipped with lanterns or flashlights. That was disappointing and had us stressing we would have to pack in the dark. I highly suggest adding an emergency kit for those unexpected situations.
