Friendly receptionist and staff, who gave local great advice on where to eat and visit.
Just off main highway, so easy access, but you have to drive into town.
Perfect for an overnight stop.
Ladysmith is a historical gem, if you can see past the litter.
Sited within pleasant gardens, Nauntons guest house seemed very peaceful despite being pretty much right on the N11. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was equipped with kettle, a good selection of teas/coffees and a fridge. My main gripe with the accommodation as I found it were the badly stained pillows which clean (though obviously not very thick) pillow cases could not hide. The bedspread was also torn. Although not a huge negative I found it an extraordinary waste of electricity that part of making up the room involved leaving both the television and EVERY light and lamp turned on presumably for hours while no one was in the room. Odd... The restaurant serves a fixed menu 3 course dinner which was filling rather than spectacular ('pap' for example featured one evening). If taking dinner in the restaurant be sure to confirm/agree what time it will be served as you need to be there at that time rather than turning up at your convenience and ordering. A final warning if using Google Maps as there seems to be a glitch with two locations given for Nauntons. Make sure you choose the more southerly one 'N11 Newcastle Road, Ladysmith' rather than 'N11 Newcastle'.

Lovely place to stay. The staff are incredibly helpful in every way. The room was very comfortable and the venue very scenic. They also host wedding functions. Honesty bar is well catered for. You have a full DSTv bouquet for you to choose in your room, which is a very nice treat. They cater for almost any request at the warm breakfast orders in the morning, which is very nice. Lovely view from the dining area. Free wifi is good and quite fast....

I booked this hotel last minute online. I arrived late at night but the security person was very friendly. The room was a suite that was clean and comfortable. I left early the next morning but had a great breakfast.

Very beautiful hotel, perfect setting for a wedding. We booked for 3 nights in Room 4 which is their standard double and got upgraded to Room 6. Spacious and clean room with a very comfortable king bed. Breakfast was cooked to order and very delicious. Staffs were all extremely friendly and accomodating. Wifi works well. Located about 6km from town centre but it actually works in its favor as you are like staying in an oasis of calm and tranquility yet not too far from the convenience of town center. Great vibes! Secure parking, staff welcoming but a little vague. Dinner OK but not gourmet. Breakfast, however, was excellent. Room very spacious but more attention could be paid to mould etc in bathroom.

Place was a bit hard to find as we arrived after dark. Possibly needs better signage on the road.
We were made very welcome by all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The gate security guard told us it was a great location if we wanted to get married. We thought this delightful as we had all been married for about 40 years!
Our room was old, but immaculately clean. Bathrooms had been modernised to a very high standard. The dining room decor was magnificent.
Our group of 4 had pre ordered dinner. A buffet had been set up for us with enough food for about 20! At the end of a long day it was a very welcome sight. Breakfast the following morning was also very good, with hot meals cooked to order.
We would happily stay there again if visiting Ladysmith.

Great place to stay
Stayed one night while passing thru ladysmith. The receptionist was friendly as we're most of the staff. Unfortunately it was mid summer and the aircon was not working properly ( which management knew about but they still put us in that room !!) By the time we realised this and went to find someone who could help all the lights in the building were out and everyone was gone about 9.30pm!! ) lucky we had a couple of fans in the car. Preventative maintainable is required around the property - wooden floor tiles missing in the room
Breakfast was great.

Unfortunately I only spent one night here, I wish I could stay longer. This must be one of the nicest and cleanest places I have ever been to. The service was excellent and the location good, just a few km outside of the city center, but with a countryside feeling.

Very friendly welcome.
Big room
Clean
Offered 3-step menu, was very delicious
To be improved:
in my room Wifi was not so good Connection, however in the guest room it worked well.
Can hear your neighbours due to the thin walls. But they kept quiet during night so no Problem.
Would always come again.
