Be aware of the photos
I booked the hotel based on the photos. Be aware that the Onkel Inn in La Paz is NOT next to the water, nor does it have floor to ceiling patio doors leading out to the water, a huge reception area or a spa tub. These photos (as I discovered when I arrived) are actually of their other hotel in Copacabana.
The La Paz Onkel Inn was very much a hostel located in a shopping centre. I booked a private room but was given a dorm room so my friend had to clamber up some stairs to get to a bed where she whacked her head on the ceiling every time she sat up. The shower and toilet are seperate but incredibly cramped. The bins weren't emptied daily (which is an issue in Bolivia when you have to throw your toilet paper in the bin, not down the toilet). The room was on the ground floor so we could hear every time someone rang the doorbell to get in late at night. The doors to the room were only covered with net curtains so if we had the light on people could see in very easily throgh the large windows.
Breakfast wasn't anything special (the usual bread and jam and the odd boiled egg if you're lucky). I think the only thing that redeemed it was it's location.
