A wonderfully quiet location with excellent provision all round
The position of the house was ideal for us: quiet and rural; close enough to essential grocery shops; with plenty of shade for those hot sunny days.
The facilities in the house were good: the sleeping arrangements suited us - 3 couples, two of which had 2 children each; the living accommodation was great with plenty of space both inside the house and outside; the cooking facilities, cutlery and crockery were excellent; the utility room was very useful to us as it meant plenty of clothes washing could be done and dried instantly in the Luberon sun; and the security and parking was good.
The highlight of the stay was the swimming pool, which we all loved: the children in particular used it several times each day; the maintenance was minimal (salt water) requiring a top up of water just a few times during the fortnight; the temperature of the water was perfect.
The manager of the house, Paul, was very helpful and took plenty of time to explain everything (including fetching us from the village centre as we could not find the address as our Sat Nav had stopped working) and was available for advice when needed.
A few observations:
1. The web site mentioned bicycles were available to use, but they were not which was a pity because we could have brought our own. The web site needs to be updated.
2. The web site mentioned that linen was provided - the English translation for this would normally include: bed linen (sheets, pillowcases); towels (bath towels and hand towels); and tea towels (for washing up). Only tea towels were provided. However, the owner did tell us to bring our own bed sheets which was fine, but we had to use our swimming towels for everything else. There was no soap in the bathroom and toilet. It would be helpful therefore if clarification could be made in the information given on the web site or when the owner makes personal contact.
3. The returnable deposit seemed rather high particularly for the English (or other country outside the Euro currency) as it meant a cost to change pounds sterling into Euros before the holiday and a cost to change it back at the end of the holiday. British cheques are not valid in Europe.
4. The outside shower was a little low in pressure, but it was not a problem.
