Worst Non-Stay Ever
Showed up with visiting family from the states. I live here in Costa Rica and have never been disappointed on a such level with a hotel and Expedia's response. Turns out the hotel had recently experienced a major power failure. As such, the hotel had to reduce its overall consumption and had to turn power off to all air conditioning machines and the pools filters and pumps. We arrived to a green slime pool and bungalows that had few opening windows and no screens. For our party of seven, they offered us one fan. Otherwise, the place wasn't that bad. No pool alone and I would have cancelled the reservation but there was no way I was going to sleep lined up sweating with all seven of us and taking cold showers in an attempt to cool off ever few hours. So I called Expedia and they said that they would help me find another place to stay and they did for almost three times the cost of this place. Ridiculous but I had to have a place to sleep that night for all of us. Expedia assured me that I would be refunded in full. So I made the second reservation. Many weeks later, I contact Expedia and they tell me that they had not refunded me the cost of the first reservation. And that they had no record of what had happened. They have been trying to contact the hotel for two weeks now and keep telling me that they just need to... not really ask the hotel for permission to refund the reservation. And now they've stopped replying to my requests for updates. I think it's Expedia's fault.
