Rihga Gran Kyoto is a 4-star hotel that may be deemed as a boutique five-star property. The property is situated a stone’s throw away and approximately 5-minute walk from the Kyoto Station. In navigating the direction to the hotel, allow plenty of time to get lost in the central station as there are numerous exit and entry points. The property is a short walk from the Kyoto Avanti Mall towards the very end of the south gate. We stayed for 2 days in a superior twin room. The room was clean and spacious boasting an eclectic modern design. Amenities were provided in abundance. Free cold and hot drinks including coffee and tea were available on the reception floor on specified hours everyday. A public hot bath, separate for men and women, was also accessible until the morning for hotel guests. Be mindful about strict onsen rules and local practices when accessing the hot baths. We had light dinner and cocktails at the hotel bar and lounge, Kotona. Food and drinks were modest in pricing but met high quality standard. The hotel ticked almost all boxes for me, except for its limited luggage storage service. We were only allowed to store luggage over a day; overnight storage was prohibited accordingly. I highly recommend this property for a short-stay in Kyoto. Long-stays may break the bank to some degree as there are other affordable and cheaper properties around the area.
