Situated in Glenshiel - one of the most hauntingly beautiful glens in Scotland - surrounded by the Kintail mountains and around the corner from Loch Duich, Woodlands is a warm and welcoming house with a 20ft square lounge and fantastic large kitchen. The mountainous views from the house are wonderful. Its huge lounge has a fabulous view of the Saddle, a mountain much revered by hillwalkers, and the Five Sisters at sunset are a sight to behold from the snug, a small room for anyone wanting some downtime. The kitchen, whilst not enjoying views of the Saddle and Five Sisters, does still have a great view and is extremely popular with its large table and warm atmosphere. Four bath/shower rooms ensure there aren't lengthy queues in the morning or evening. With large grounds to explore and plenty of games in the house, children love Woodlands (little ones will need supervising as part of the garden is steep and boggy as there is a spring running down the back). Please note for dog owners the garden is secure however goats and other wild life can sometimes breach the fencing without our knowledge. We would recommend checking the fencing out with the enclosed inner garden area before allowing your dog /dogs to run free within the extended plot.
With 22 Munros in the area, the Five Sisters ridge and the Saddle accessed directly from the house, Woodlands is perfect for hillwalkers. For ramblers there are countless mid and low level walks of all descriptions - lochside, forest, glen, waterfall (Falls of Glomach)l, river and sea shore. The house is also perfect for large family get-togethers and being on the A87, it is ideally placed for those wishing to tour by car.
There is pony-trekking a couple of hundred yards away and many types of boat trips from seal-spotting trips to glass-bottom boats. Attadale and Armadale gardens are within easy reach and Eilean Donan Castle is only 6 miles away. In addition to all this, the Iron Age brochs of Glenelg are some 11 miles away. The bridge to the Isle of Skye and all it has to offer is 16 miles away. Applecross (on the North Coast 500 route), Glenelg and Knoydart are within easy reach. Torridon and the Nevis Range are also within driving distance.
At the end of the day, Woodlands and its warm and welcoming atmosphere is great to get back to. Dinner around the large dining table is well appreciated as are the extremely comfortable sofas in the lounge. There is also an outside barbeque for use in warmer weather.
Finally, a car isn't necessary as buses from Inverness, Glasgow, Fort William, and Skye stop 100 yards from the house.
