Comfortable property with ample space and views of the 5 sisters of Kintail

Situated in Glenshiel - one of the most hauntingly beautiful glens in Scotland - surrounded by the Kintail mountains and around the corner from Loch Duich, Woodlands is a warm and welcoming house with a 20ft square lounge and fantastic large kitchen. The mountainous views from the house are wonderful. Its huge lounge has a fabulous view of the Saddle, a mountain much revered by hillwalkers, and the Five Sisters at sunset are a sight to behold from the snug, a small room for anyone wanting some downtime. The kitchen, whilst not enjoying views of the Saddle and Five Sisters, does still have a great view and is extremely popular with its large table and warm atmosphere. Four bath/shower rooms ensure there aren't lengthy queues in the morning or evening. With large grounds to explore and plenty of games in the house, children love Woodlands (little ones will need supervising as part of the garden is steep and boggy as there is a spring running down the back). Please note for dog owners the garden is secure however goats and other wild life can sometimes breach the fencing without our knowledge. We would recommend checking the fencing out with the enclosed inner garden area before allowing your dog /dogs to run free within the extended plot.

With 22 Munros in the area, the Five Sisters ridge and the Saddle accessed directly from the house, Woodlands is perfect for hillwalkers. For ramblers there are countless mid and low level walks of all descriptions - lochside, forest, glen, waterfall (Falls of Glomach)l, river and sea shore. The house is also perfect for large family get-togethers and being on the A87, it is ideally placed for those wishing to tour by car.

There is pony-trekking a couple of hundred yards away and many types of boat trips from seal-spotting trips to glass-bottom boats. Attadale and Armadale gardens are within easy reach and Eilean Donan Castle is only 6 miles away. In addition to all this, the Iron Age brochs of Glenelg are some 11 miles away. The bridge to the Isle of Skye and all it has to offer is 16 miles away. Applecross (on the North Coast 500 route), Glenelg and Knoydart are within easy reach. Torridon and the Nevis Range are also within driving distance.

At the end of the day, Woodlands and its warm and welcoming atmosphere is great to get back to. Dinner around the large dining table is well appreciated as are the extremely comfortable sofas in the lounge. There is also an outside barbeque for use in warmer weather.

Finally, a car isn't necessary as buses from Inverness, Glasgow, Fort William, and Skye stop 100 yards from the house.

Mountain walking and time with friends
Our second stay at this lovely property was excellent. Blessed with amazing weather, we climbed many hills, conquered the In Pinn on Skye, and paddle boarded and swam in the beautiful Loch Duich. The house is excellent, very comfortable and well equipped. Many thanks!

Lovely place close to Skye
This was a great (and convenient!) base for exploring Skye and the northwestern Highlands - and would be perfect for a large group. The hostess was always immediately responsive and thoughtfully provided a great "goodie bag" of food and drink, the house and grounds were tidy and comfortable with all the mod cons (we thanked heaven for the clothes washer and dryer!). I had anticipated having to "rough it" in a relatively-remote area, but this was perfectly lovely. Highly recommended.

Beautiful Beyond the Pictures
We had a most lovely time at Susan and Moray's gorgeous home. The pictures do not do justice to its beauty. The kitchen is spacious, easy to navigate and perfectly appointed with everything you need. The bedrooms either have a sink in the room or an en-suite bath. The hallway bathtub is a dream. Couches are super comfy to hang out in and enjoy games by the fireplace. Only an hour to Isle of Skye and so much to do within 30 minutes or less: incredible trails, Eilean Donan Castle and delicious chocolate at the Glen Shiel Chocolate Shoppe less than 5 minutes away. Thanks so much for a wonderful place to rest and enjoy the beauty and history of the Highlands.

Wonderful stay.
I had a fantastic stay at this wonderful house. It was spotlessly clean, and the pictures simply don't do it justice. The rooms were incredibly spacious, providing plenty of room to relax and play. The location was perfect, offering breathtaking views of the hills. Overall, a brilliant experience all around. Highly recommended!

Amazing location
We chose this location, as it gave us access to the Kintail mountains and Fort William in one direction, and the Isle of Skye in the other. The home was very well maintained and offered us the flexibility of quiet outdoor space and an amazing floor plan inside. From the little goody basket Sue left us, to the use of 2 refrigerators and a washer/dyer, we had everything we needed for the week. The kitchen was the main dining area and we had plenty of seating. The bedrooms and baths were spread out and we never felt on top of each other. Sue was an amazing host and answered all our questions about the house and gave us so many tips on the area and places to stop on our way back to Inverness for our flights. I would highly recommend this location to anyone who is hiking in these areas or doing the site seeing (check out the ferry, not far from the house, that takes you over to the Isle of Skye). Thanks so much for making our stay a pleasurable and memorable one...

Perfect for a walking party
Woodlands was perfect for our needs - six adult hillwalkers planning to climb the abundance of hills in Kintail. The property is very large, and all the bedrooms are a good size. The interior is somewhat dated, with kitchen and bathrooms all of the late 80's/ early 90's style, but functional and clean. The bathrooms have some quirks - one of them has a shower and toilet but no sink, another has a bath but no shower, but none of this detracted from our stay. Communication with the owners was very good. Highly recommended - would stay again

We had a great week with our two grown up sons and their partners. House was ideally situated for walking and climbing, including the Glen Shiel area and Skye. Clean, well equipped, spacious and comfortable, the property suited us perfectly, and the games room was brilliant. The owners were helpful and accommodating and all of the arrangements were smooth and friendly. Many thanks.

Perfect Property for a large group
The large lounge and very well appointed kitchen were real bonuses for our group. The friendly and attentive host made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The bedrooms are all a good size and the yard is a nice bonus if the weather permits. The location is an easy drive over to Skye and there are lots of lovely places to visit within a 30 minute drive. Lots of good walking right outside the door, too. We highly recommend this property.

Comfortable house amongst fantastic scenery!
We chose this property as we were looking for a hill walking holiday. As it is in the heart of wonderful mountains, it did not disappoint and there were many fantastic walks in the immediate area with minimal driving (especially the 5 sisters of Kintail). The house was spotlessly clean, warm, spacious and very comfortable. I particularly appreciated the big freestanding bath after long hill walks! My sons (16 and 21) enjoyed the basket ball. The only drawback was the proximity to the A87 which is a very fast and busy road by highland standards. I am a light sleeper and was disturbed by occassional traffic passing at night and spending time in the garden wasn't really an attractive option due to the noise. If you are wanting to use this property as a base to get out and about in this stunning area, I would recommend it, but if you are wanting to hang out in a rural idyll it's not the best option. The owners were also very friendly and helpful. There was an issue with the cooker not working/electricity fusing on our arrival but they were on the other end of the telephone and came out to sort it immediately. Also very accomodating with slightly more relaxed arrival/departure times. One of my favourite Highland holidays with an unfogettable day walking the 5 sisters ridge!
