its a taste of the malaysian culture not experienced or spoken of too often. the room provided had an adjacent smoking room, some smell seeped into the room. the room was adjacent to the roadway, wife couldnt sleep with the constant passing of noisy motorcycles, good thing our stay was for one night. the male desk clerks were not to friendly and knowledgable in their tasks, good thing they had support from the females who were more friendly and knowledgable.
as far as the neighborhood, be wary that this is far from the touristy areas, you’ll witness sights that tourists dont usually see, ie. homeless sleeping on sidewalks(literally on the main path), feces on train walkway, stores being broken into at night, reek of ammonia in alleys, etc...
some would think it would be great place to get a taste of raw culture, but not for me.
