I wasn’t expecting luxury when I booked my stay at Horizon, but I was at least expecting adequate facilities.
The room, with its one lightbulb, small window and mold all over the walls and fan, was dark and dirty. I’ve stayed at some rough hostel, bungalows, and hotels over the years, but this was by far the most disgusting and run-down.
If that wasn’t bad enough, during what was supposed to be a four-night stay (I only stayed two because it was so bad), the toilet and shower never worked. When I told the staff about this, I was told, “Yes, it’s broken,” without any indication that it would be addressed.
The only good thing about Horizon is the view from the beach/bar area — it’s quite good, especially at sunset. But even that is ruined by the fact that the food and drink prices are more expensive than just about anywhere else along the beach.
Save yourself the time and trouble. Avoid Horizon and stay at any of the many other places along the beach at Khlong Nin.
