"Convenience, helpful staff, food very good"

"Hotel was great value for money, rooms where clean and well appointed. We had views out over the countryside, which was lovely. Breakfasts were delicious and it was table service. We ate in the restaurant the food was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Cliffe was just outside of Ludlow but only a very pleasant (with slight incline) 10 - 15 minute walk into a beautiful interesting town."

"We enjoyed a great overnight stay after visiting Powis Castle. Check in was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was great and the shower was fabulous. Breakfast was excellent with well cooked quality ingredients. Every member of staff we encountered were superb. For the price you cannot go wrong. "

"Lovely Victorian hotel in great location with a steep history. Unfortunately the hotel seems to be in a time warp and not in touch with modern day competition with regards to room quality tv, bed, furnishings. The dining options were extremely close windowed and not flexible. Breakfast was really poor quality with limited choice with many expected food items not bailable or offered. It seemed to be more in line with a seaside bed and breakfast offering rather than what appeared to be a 4 star hotel. We don't regret staying at The Metropole. Just that we were a little disappointed "
