This detached cottage offers stunning views over the glen, and some seclusion for a peaceful break.. "Acres of peaceful and secluded countryside surround these magnificent cottages..."

At the heart of Glenprosen, one of the renowned ‘Glens of Angus’, lies the Balnaboth Estate on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park; 6,000 peaceful and secluded acres surrounding 16th-century Balnaboth House. In its midst, these six characterful holiday cottages each offer a unique and magical holiday retreat; indeed the creator of Peter Pan himself (Sir James Barrie) was born in nearby Kirriemuir and holidayed here.

These cottages were once occupied by shepherds, gardeners or other staff of the Ogilvy family when this was a traditional Victorian sporting estate. Red squirrels play in the trees, otters frequent the burns, and deer graze all around. Because of the varied scenery, that varies from beech woods to forest, pasture to heather moor, mountain streams to river pools, the area enjoys a spectacular range of wildlife, including species largely extinct elsewhere in Britain, such as black game and ptarmigan.
Magnificent walking, bird-watching, mountain biking and (in season) cross-country skiing abound on the estate and, further afield, downhill skiing at Glen Shee (25 miles). Fishing is available on a 5-mile stretch of the River Prosen, and there are twenty golf courses within an hours’ drive.
Enjoy the seclusion of this beautiful glen - peaceful, relaxing, scenic - yet just a few minutes’ drive from bustling market towns and busy fishing harbours which hug the Angus coastline, as well as from the city of Dundee which offers many attractions for all the family. The exciting Dundee Contemporary Arts is a stunningly-designed centre which incorporates galleries, a print studio and two art-cinema screens, while the Mills Observatory is Britain’s only full-time public observatory with a resident astronomer.
Good road, rail and air access to Angus provide easy access from all parts of the UK or international destinations. Shop 9-10 miles.

Buckhood is ideal for those who want a remote location with tremendous walking on the doorstep plus easy access to the higher peaks in the Angus Glens. The property was dog friendly and there was no better way to the end the day than with a glass of malt in front of the log burner. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Second stay at Buckhood.
Second stay at Buckhood. It is in a lovely location with good dog walking. Our dog enjoyed the garden & so did we as the weather was kind. We even saw two red kites! No problem with the shower & used very little electricity as the stove provided lots of heat in the evening. Would recommend the walk up to Airlie Tower, a visit to Glen Clova & Glen Doll/Corrie Fee waterfall. The Co-op in Kirriemuir is very well stocked. All in all a very enjoyable & relaxing week. We absolutely loved our stay at Buckhood! The cottage had everything we could have needed, and was set in the most beautiful location. The kitchen was the hub of family gatherings, with a table which saw a lot of evening card playing. Waking up to the sound of bleating sheep and lambs was just the best. Closest town is Kirrimuir, which is a 15 minute drive away, but has a well-stocked Co-op. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Great place to relax and get away from it all.
Great place to relax and get away from it all. Good large kitchen with view down the glen. Pleasant living room with wood-lined walls and wood-fired stove. Comfortable bedrooms upstairs (with low coombed ceilings). Table outside to sit at and enjoy the view. Quiet, with good walks nearby. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had a lovely stay at Buckhood Cottage, stunning location, so peaceful and remote and beautiful!
Buckhood cottage had everything needed, clean and functional. The kitchen was a good size with the best view to look at while washing up. Beds were comfy and slept very well. Only issue was the shower, very low pressure and runs scorching hot and freezin cold. Overall a very good stay. Xxx

Fantastic location, with stunning views all around.
Fantastic location, with stunning views all around. Enclosed garden great for the dog, and abundance of wildlife to torment him. Some minor issues with the shower, but it’s not on mains water so to be expected. Shops only 20mins away, but it feels really remote in the cottage.

An absolutely superb cottage to explore the Angus Glens and beyond.
An absolutely superb cottage to explore the Angus Glens and beyond. Cottage itself was cosy and offered excellent views and a variety of wildlife on the doorstep. Many near by walks and both Kirriemuir and Forfar are a short drive to get shopping, take away food etc. We ended up breaking an item and the caretaker was very friendly and reassuring about it. An all round winner - we'll return again soon.

Lovely little cozy cottage.
Lovely little cozy cottage. Great remote location. Very happy other than the shower does not work. Although inconvenient, it did not take away from an amazing week away. Fab kitchen, lovely lounge, hubby loved bed though a little hard for me. Would definitely recommend, but please owners, can you fix that shower, with long hair it is really hard to have a bath. Thank you beautiful spot ❤️
