Oak Framed Barn with Wonderful Views

Keepers in Huntington village is at the heart of the Marches. There are scattered farms, an historic church of St. Thomas a Becket and a pub built on a site dating back to 13th century. It is a wonderful place to enjoy peace and beautiful scenery. Walkers, riders and cyclist have the open hills and Offa's Dyke, the Black mountains and Hay Bluff to explore close by. Kington golf club welcomes visitors to enjoy the highest 18 hole course in England. Canoeing can take you from Glasbury to the historic town of Hay on Wye. There are many beautiful gardens open to the public including Hergest Croft Gardens, particularly lovely in Spring. Many market towns can easily be visited, Ludlow for it's farmers market, Leominster for antiques, Hay on Wye well known for the annual literary festival and Brecon in the Beacons. Hereford Cathedral has the Mappa Mundi on display. Local pubs offer good menus and log fires. Keepers provides peace, quiet and yet there is plenty of interest near by.

Remote, relaxing stay in a beautiful area
We booked this remote spot to avoid fireworks for our dogs on 5th November and we weren't disappointed- didn't hear a sound. Lovely location, comfy barn with great views, never ending beautiful birds visiting the balcony to use the nut feeder and everything you could need for a short stay. Marilyn and Peter are warm, friendly hosts and even shared some farm eggs (which were very tasty!). Lots of lovely places to visit locally too. Would definitely recommend.

Delightful stay in a beautiful location.
Lovely property in an outstandingly beautiful area. We didn't hear a car all week. Very clean, comfortable and well presented, with adequate equipment for a week long stay. The internet is not the best, but it's adequate for browsing and emails, but not for multiple users watching videos. Very remote, but only a ten minute car ride to Kington, which has all the shops you will need. Outside the property, you are close to the owners house, but you have complete privacy and use of the surrounding woods for short walks. There is a bird feeder on the balcony, which is constantly visited by all sorts of birds. The owners are very welcoming and give plenty of advice about the surrounding area, walks , places to visit and the best restaurants and cafes. We were reluctant to leave after our week in the cottage and we are very likely to return. Overall its a perfect getaway, peaceful and quiet.

Keeper's Cottage
A lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. We had a fantastic week. The accommodation was great. The view from the balcony was sensational. Marilyn and Peter were perfect hosts and even jump started our car to get us back on the road at the end of our stay. The Huntington area is like a time capsule to a bygone age with little traffic; friendly people and an unbelievable pub - The Swan. We loved it all - thank you.

Delightful cottage in the midst of beautiful countryside
We had a delightful three-night stay in this lovely cottage. It is simply but attractively and comfortably furnished, and we did not want for anything. It was great to meet Peter and Marilyn who, even before our stay began had been very helpful in answering our questions. They made us feel very welcome and at ease. The windows of the cottage give access to dramatic views and, because Keepers is on the side of a hill with trees below, we almost felt, when we were sitting in the main room, that we were in the tree-tops themselves. The kitchen is excellently equipped for a short stay and I was particularly impressed by the cast-iron pans (something one does not often encounter in an English holiday let). We spent an enjoyable day in Hay on Wye and had a delicious lunch at The Swan. Then the next day, on Peter's recommendation, we walked through stunning countryside to the pub at Gladestry, where we enjoyed another good lunch and then "walked it off" on the way home. Thoroughly recommend.
