Peaceful setting 10 minutes to New Braunfels, San Marcos or Seguin
Opa's Haus is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home. Three bedrooms downstairs each have a queen bed. Upstairs is one large bedroom with 4 twin beds. So the house can easily sleep 10 people. The house was originally built in 1860 by German immigrants who used 'fachwerk' (half timber) construction with which they were familiar in Germany. Some of these original walls have been exposed to show the structural beams held together with hand-whittled pegs instead of nails. Between the beams you can also see the handmade bricks. Even though built before Abraham Lincoln was President, the house now has all the modern conveniences of central heat and air conditioning and kitchen appliances. In the living room is a large TV with satellite service. There is also a large outdoor charcoal grill. The spacious front porch is the perfect place to relax after a day of activities - a good place to reconnect with family and friends. If your group is larger than 10 we also have 3 other houses on the property which could accommodate a family reunion. The location is the perfect combination of peaceful country living and access to attractions in New Braunfels, Seguin or San Marcos. All 3 towns are just 10 minutes from Opa's Haus.

The cabin was so cute and so peaceful. The bedrooms were clean and the owners let us check in early since my family flew in from N Carolina. It was a nice weekend getaway for the wedding!
Family wedding at Geronimo Oaks made this location perfect for our family as it is five minutes away and we were able to let everyone stay at the reception as long or as short a time as they wanted! The house had everything we needed for the eight adults that stayed and we loved the beautiful sunrise views and historical charm of the place!
This was a nicely renovated old farmhouse with lots of charm. It was a treat to get to stay in such a historic home - we were especially smitten with walls & exposed framing. Very unique & old world!

We had a great time. Cabin is located perfectly to be away from town but, get there quickly
This was the PERFECT stay with it being so close to the Geronimo Oaks Wedding Venue. Although the house is older- it was charming and spacious for our group of 8. The host was amazing and communicated well in advance of our stay and promptly responded to any messages I sent. Hands down one of the best stays we’ve ever experienced. Highly recommend! It was close to Seguin and New Braunfels- perfectly located for a country feel without being too far from necessities.
Not too far from San Marcos which is where we had activities. Secluded & quiet. Very neat old German home. Kids loved the loft & want us to book it again next year.
We came for big event but the highlight was truly the quiet peaceful abode that became our home for a week. Tastefully decorated and restored with a light hand comfortable beds and open fields off the patio to entertain the eye.
Relaxing.
New Braunfels is charming and it’s Saturday market a gem.
Joy and Sherman are wonderful caretakers and hosts. Lovely people.
Although it is a little ride back to town, it was well worth it for the price and great accommodations! Enjoyed chilling on the porch with the nice breeze in the evening. Very nice!
The house was overall very nice. I loved the history of the house. Only issue we had was with the lack of water pressure after a long day on the river..
Family Reunion - From Texas Hill Country, Odessa, Tulsa, Edmond and beyond.
The home we stayed in was originally built in the 1850s and move to this location in 2011 and restored. We all enjoyed our stay in "This Old House"! Updated to central air and modern appliances. If you are from, even a small town, come experience the rolling hills of Texas and this home.
This house is perfect for a large family. It is the perfect distance from town that you can get what you need when you need it, but have the privacy that you want. We were in town for a Texas State graduation ceremony which was only about a 20 minute drive.
The house was built in the 1800’s, so it has a ton of character. It has been updated so it doesn’t feel like an old house. It is located on what appears to be a ranch. We absolutely loved it out here. We had the pleasure of having deer in the yard one morning which we all stood at the windows and watched them for a few minutes.
Perfect location. Quiet and comfortable.
We had plenty of room for our family. We felt like we were away from the hustle and bustle of the city but really close to be able to go and do all the things we wanted to do within a 20 min drive. The house has so much character and we just love that. It was nice having 3 bedrooms downstairs and hall access to both bathrooms (vs having to go into a master bedroom for access). The owners were very accommodating. It is so dry outside right now, but I bet when everything is green it is beautiful out there. Great house.
Opa's house and cabin are remarkable architecture in a beautiful farm like setting. Close to wedding venues Harper Hill Ranch and Geronimo Oaks. Super convenient for both. Had everything we needed and owners were awesome! super res
