As Beautiful as it Looks

I was afraid the pictures of the back yard were too good to be true. To my delight, they’re accurate! The vast back lawn and beach are stunning!! The beach is nearly vacant and the house has everything you could need. Wonderful stay!

Breathtaking

Beautiful location for family stay

This property is fantastic for a large family or group wanting to relax in a lovely, quiet beach location with access to stores, restaurants, and nearby activities. The management team was easy to communicate with, the house was as pictured and described, and we had no issues at all during our stay. The beach in front of the house is perfect for little ones and we saw lots of turtles swimming about.

Amazing!

The house was amazing with breathtaking views in every direction. The house was very clean and spacious. It was centrally located on Maui, so convenient to anywhere we wanted to go. We would definitely stay again!

Exceeded expectations!

The photos couldn’t show the perfection of this home!! It really is a walk-on to the beach with glorious sunset views from the outside eating area, the pool (!), or the beach!! The house is beautifully laid out with great sleeping, cooking, eating spaces. We had a fantastic family vacation—ages 3 to 73. Thank you!!!

What a great visit!

We had a wonderful time at Halama House-it is exactly as advertised. Being able to walk a few steps to the beach each night for the sunsets was wonderful and being able to sit on the lanai and eat even with the wind blowing was a plus. The house is large, had comfortable furniture, a well equipped kitchen with plenty of supplies and we never felt crowded. The kids loved their "private pool".They have lots of beach toys but the beach chairs were locked up and we didn't think soon enough to ask for the combination to the bin-but we survived without them. The only thing we would have asked for was tutorial on how to use the many remotes for the TV-a minor inconvenience. We would love to stay there again....

Outstanding!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks in Maui, thanks in large part to the quality of our accommodations. With a wonderful in-ground pool and easy beach access, this place is fantastic! While mostly perfect, there were a couple of very minor issues during our stay, and management was right on top of them. Things were taken care of same day. We look forward to returning to Maui and hope Halama Hale House will be available then. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Perfect !

The property was everything it was described as - and then some ! Absolutely beautiful and everything we needed and wanted was right at our fingertips ! Grandkids ranged from 5 to 17 years old - each and everyone of them played until they couldn’t. The pool was a definite plus - adding just one more option for cooling off . I would definitely come back here again . Thank you !!!

The Yard was absolutely beautiful, and the beach was stunning. We were lucky enough to have a sea turtle come right up on the beach while we were staying there. The check-in process was very easy and the communication from the management company was very good. I would highly recommend this for your family vacation. they had many extras including boogie boards, and yard games as well as plenty of pool toys. It was absolutely a perfect vacation.

Beach Front Paradise

The outdoor area was where we spent so much of our time. Plenty of seating for our group of 13. Kitchen was well stocked which is appreciated because we cooked all of our meals. We had a couple of maintenance issues which were handled promptly by a friendly crew. Lots of kids pool toys and pool towels. Very private and secure. Summed up by our 3 year old granddaughter when she got home to Oregon...she started crying and said her house was boring😂

Management company doing a great job!

This property is well maintained by highly competent people. When the power went out during a storm, there were already flashlights in each of the bedrooms. Home had all the amenities and was extremely well organized. The CB team was very responsive and thorough. The Internet was solid. Property is walking distance to food and shopping. Marvelous variety of wildlife on the property, including a mascot dove that would visit us each day. I also recommend you visit nearby 808 Wellness for an excellent massage by Mary. Miso Phat sushi is across the street and go a little early because they are popular, for good reason.

A Little Bit of Paradise

Reviewer Comments: Just what our group of eight were looking for: Idyllic beachfront location with views from inside and out through a private coconut grove to the ocean, easy access to a lightly used beach perfect for SUPs, swimming and turtle watching, spacious kitchen and lanai, private pool. Sunset and morning setting moon provided mesmerizing vistas across the ocean. One suggestion: We would have appreciated a greater assortment of cooking supplies as things as basic as a sheet pan and casserole dish were not stocked.

Anniversary and Reunion

The view and beach access are superb. The house was well stocked with kitchen utensils and tableware. There were enough beds for everyone. The key issues were airflow and A/C. While asking us not to run the units until nighttime did not allow for a cool stay, we did try to follow that. However, with people taking naps and a baby requiring a different sleep schedule it was impossible to be comfortable inside unless the air condition was running in the bedrooms. Only one of the 4 A/C units worked consistently. It took about 2 hours to properly cool a room down once they were turned on. We did try to contact management but because of traveling and activities could not arrange a maintenance visit. Also, the fans in the living room were so wobbly and noisy we were afraid they were going to fall on our heads. The ones in the kitchen cannot be adjusted so they barely functioned. The lighting was dim in living area and kitchen. Do not plan to play games or do puzzles. Not all windows had screens and after trying to cool the house off, our little 1 year old grandson actually stepped on a bee that was in his room! We took out the garbage daily and cleaned the counters. There were still ants in the kitchen, two of the bedrooms and a cockroach in the bathroom. One shower had no water pressure and one was so small you could not open the shower door without flooding the whole bathroom when entering. Directions for entry were not clear or concise and we were not provided with an entry code for the actual property. It took 15 minutes of walking around and finally calling to actually get the code for the gate to the house. Overall, we still had a wonderful time (It’s Hawaii and we were together!) and loved the yard and pool area. We realize the house is not equipped with all modern conveniences but for the price we paid we expected a more comfortable experience. As much as we loved being by the ocean and beach, we could not recommend this location without disclaimers.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I recently stayed here with family for my 40th birthday, which was held elsewhere in Kihei. First, check in was simple and dealing with the Coldwell Banker team was easy. They were responsive, friendly, and got back to me quickly when issues came up. The house is in a great location, has a very picturesque yard that's lined with palm trees and has easy access to a beach. It's a great place to watch the sunset. Parking and access are easy. However, I didn't feel like our stay was worth what we paid, which was over $3k per night. There were a number of items around the house that wouldn't require much investment to fix. At that price, it's a luxury property and things are definitely missing the mark. - Not enough hooks in the bathrooms for towels so you throw them on the floor and they need to be washed. There was 1 hook in a bathroom that is supposed to service 8 people. Also, there are 2 bathrooms in a house that sleeps 14. - Bedroom doors do not lock for privacy. The lock on the half bath downstairs is also broken and doesn't latch so people can walk in on you in the bathroom (and this happened!) - Shades in the master bedroom were broken- Kitchen dining seats 4. Outside seats 8. Living room seats 6. House sleeps 14. There is not nearly enough room to comfortably seat people if even half of the group wants to eat inside or watch a movie together- The seating in the living room wasn't very comfortable- Toaster was broken (they replaced it next day). Outlet in kitchen didn't work. Blender was old - buttons stick and it couldn't crush ice. Dishwasher child lock was on. Ice maker wasn't on so we didn't have any ice on arrival. Shelves in the fridge were broken. - There was very little to store any cooked food in. They also only left salt/pepper in the kitchen and no other condiments like oil or cooking spray. I loved the property, but it needs some investment and maintenance to justify such a high cost.

Amazing Property, but some issues with the house

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I'm very torn on this property. Location is great, right on the ocean! A quick walk across the lawn & we were on a beautiful quiet beach, gentle waves, we swam every day, played in the sand, whale watched. This made it worth it for us & our small kids. House has a casual beach cottage feel. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, but it has many issues that should be addressed, at $1500/nt expect better upkeep. A few of these in isolation wouldn’t be worth mentioning, but so many made it disappointing. To be fair we didn’t ask them to address any of these (we just wanted to relax and spend time with family, not have to coordinate repairs) * electric: We were told breakers might flip if we used too many appliances & that breakers were inaccessible. Just using a water kettle in the kitchen caused the breaker to flip. I didn’t dry my hair the entire week out of fear of losing power. * plumbing: leak from the 2nd floor & dripping into the kitchen over the microwave (ceiling damage indicates it’s not a new leak, hopefully not from toilet)! * poor lighting: At night was so dark we couldn’t even work on a puzzle, also 2 of 3 lamps in the living room wouldn’t turn on. * 1st fl bedroom ceiling fan makes a horrible noise & swings back & forth like about to fall. Window A/C is so loud and does not cool. The A/C in the LR times out so doesn’t stay cool. * Kitchen: Only a small table, had to bring in chairs from outside, we like to cook but oven only has 1 rack so could only fit one tray at a time. Range is in bad shape, knobs broken & stick, sometimes difficult to light. Dishwasher soap drawer sticks & doesn’t always open during the cycle, had to re-run it. * Hand-soap dispensers were clogged, had to unscrew top to get soap, limited supply of toilet paper & a small amount of laundry detergent left in the container, had to buy more. The pool was pretty but mostly in the shade-so really cold we never went in, ocean was much warmer. NO VACUUM/MOP/

Beautiful Property!

The property is beautiful with lots of space inside and out! It is within walking distance of stores and restaurants. Stayed with a family group of 6 adults and 2 small children. The view of the beach with the grassy area and palms trees was outstanding! We played many rounds of bocce ball on the grass and the kids spent a great deal of time playing there too. Plenty of beach chairs and towels are provided as well as some sand toys for the kids. The house is a little older and dated and could use some upgrades but it felt quaint and easily met the expectations of our family group. The house was in a very quiet area and with secure parking and plenty of privacy. We would definitely stay there again!

Idyllic stay w beautiful sunsets

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay here. The sunsets are just spectacular, and we chose to bring dinners in and watch them rather than eat out at restaurants. Location is perfect, just a bit outside Kihei, so quiet and relaxing. The pool and yard are great, played wiffle ball and ran around a lot. Saw turtles every day, swimming by or laying on beach. The house is comfortable, kitchen well stocked, and plenty of room for everyone. We will be back.
