The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives
5/5 Excellent
"Fabulous island with wonderful reef and lovely friendly and efficient staff who went out of their way to be helpful. Food was excellent as were facilities. Plentiful water (still and sparkling filtered) in the room at all times, replenished multiple times a day. Nice toiletries. We didn't do many activities but greatly enjoyed the beginners dawn yoga class.
Overwater bungalow was beautiful and possible to see fish, sharks and rays from your room.
I'd have like to have seen a little more action on sustainability (ensuring appropriate behaviour over reefs, reefsafe sunscreen etc, and also introducing - or acting on - optional daily towel and sheet changes (ours were changed multiple times a day, despite us hanging up towels).
I understand that The Standard is starting a cooperation with a conservationist to improve information about the coral etc which would be great.
It is worth noting that, in line with the branding of the hotel, there is very often quite loud music in the pool / bar area."
