About the property
Thresher's Cottage is set in a beautiful, secluded part of the Lake District and has far-reaching views of the countryside, that are particularly enthralling from the lounge. Set on a five-star cottage complex (there are just four other boutique-style properties here) with three acres of tranquil gardens, Thresher's is an excellent choice for a relaxing luxury cottage holiday. Particularly suitable for a family, two couples or a group of friends wishing to spend quality time together, Thresher's Cottage offers a perfect base for country walks to the pub and enjoying nature, yet is just a short drive from Kendal and Windermere. With an on-site spa and swimming pool available for your exclusive use, as well as the option of booking a private chef to cook dinner for you, Thresher's Cottage will not disappoint.
The space
Thresher's Cottage is spacious and has a classic Lakes-themed sense of interior style, with dark timber flooring and exposed oak beams, along with pops of blue and red in the soft furnishings. One of the most striking features is the view of the wildflower meadow which is utterly delightful.
The open-plan lounge/dining area features a sofa and armchair for settling down to watch television on the Smart TV which has Netflix built-in, while a log-burner is ready to take the chill off those cool evenings. There's also a dining table and chairs for enjoying meals together, while if you step through the French doors onto the terrace there is a garden table, chairs and parasol for dining alfresco.
The lounge/dining area leads into the bespoke kitchen which has everything you'll need to make self-catering a breeze including a dishwasher, induction hob, double oven and washing machine. Meanwhile, the kitchen island with seating for four is the perfect spot to socialise with a glass of wine and nibbles while dinner is being prepared. The cottage also features music control pads and Bluetooth technology so that you can play songs from your own collection, or stream music.
Upstairs, there is a bedroom with a super-king-size bed (that can be arranged as twin beds if you'd prefer) with an en-suite shower room, whilst the second bedroom has a super-king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a roll-top bath.
For nature-lovers, there's a ‘nature spotter diary' for noting sightings of wildlife and adding photos. You'll also find bird and nature guides to help you identify species. If you'd like a night away from the TV, request for some stargazing equipment to be dropped off at the cottage and see what you can spot when the air is crisp and the sky is clear.
Guest access
If you arrive before 7pm you will be met by a member of staff who will show you to your cottage and how everything works. For later arrivals, there is self-check-in, but a member of staff will welcome you the following morning. Parking is available on-site, near to the cottage.
Sustainability
The complex on which Thresher's Cottage is situated is committed to minimising its environmental impact and caring for the surrounding countryside. It has a private water supply, while renewable biomass and solar power is generated on site. Recycling facilities include guest composting bins for food waste, while bark chippings are created in the grounds and used in the garden borders. There's also a tree-planting programme, whilst nature is encouraged to thrive through measures like adding plants and wildflowers that attract pollinators including bees and butterflies. Meanwhile, eco-friendly cleaning products are used where possible and items included in welcome hampers are sourced locally.
