Lovely hotel. Very old world country house style, extremely comfortable and warm. Beautiful modern bathroom with loads of towels. We ate in the bar both evenings and the food was top rate. Breakfast was served in a lovely spacious dining room and hot food prepared to order. All the staff were very helpful, friendly and very efficient. Free parking!! Would definitely recommend.

I didnt like the position of a room for pensioners like us. Upstairs...then more stairs and then along corridors. I was exhausted and breathless by the time I reached room 36. Instead of going to a nearby restaurant as I couldnt face the return journey we ordered takeout. So I was istensibly trapped in our room. The girl in charge of taking names for breakfast was hopeless. There were no bowls for cereal and another resident had to tell us where to find one.

It nice, the ground are amazing but the stay was over priced. It interior is a bit run down, I like the old world manner feel but it dose have to have a polish and looked after feel to make it that way, this did not have that. The room was large and clean and a large bathroom but the decors was not what you see in the the website pic, sink and food was well over priced two drink for nearly £20 is a bit much but the pub across the road is a very great alternative for drinks and food. - in all it was a nice break but once again for the price I paid - it was not worth it! I can see why the older clientele or wedding like this place

The room I had was poor. Toilet was very poor. Needed new flooring and bath which were both aged beyond belief. I’ve been informed by the staff that a refurbishment is starting in October 24. It badly needs it. Staff, food and grounds were very good. This building has great potential and could be a grand venue but not just now. I wouldn’t stay there again until the rooms are ripped out and replaced.
