"Listing was accurate, the place was clean and in a good location. Host warns you about it being in a tropical rainforest with bugs and they are not lying! Be prepared to see bugs. But be smart and don't leave food out or trash in the unit. Also check the fridge, I found a little cricket hanging out in the door shelf :). The place was nice and comfortable and I appreciated having access to beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach towels. Thanks for that. The mattresses on both inside beds are very soft so I didn't find them very comfortable. I would have liked a firmer mattress option to get better sleep. "

"This place is incredible! It is off the beaten path but still close to so much. The place is beautiful with amazing views. The photos don’t really do it justice. We had beautiful sunrises, sunsets and even an intense thunderstorm. All amazing!!! John was a great host. He shared fresh bananas from his property and incredible dried banana. We will definitely stay here again in the future!"

"This was our first visit to Maui and the highlight was driving the Road to Hana. Having done our research, we knew that this wasn’t something we’d want to rush. I approximated our drive over two days with sites to visit along the way (black sand beach, Lindbergh’s grave, rainbow eucalyptus trees, waterfalls, etc.) and determined that this property would be an excellent “half-way” place to stay. Upon booking, I received a friendly response from Terry providing detailed information about how to locate the property, where to stop to gather food for our stay, things to do in the area, etc. to aid in our planning. All instructions were super helpful.We arrived to the property around 6pm, finding that the gate had been left open for us. When we pulled up and honked our horn as instructed, we were greeted by sweet doggo, Star. Terry promptly greeted us and showed us around, pointing out some of the unique features of the property (outdoor shower, tankless water heater, etc.) Owners Terry and Michael have thoughtfully provided many items that could be useful to those traveling, including body boards, beach chairs, towels for use at the beach, etc. The accommodation itself was adequate for our needs- a comfortable bed, a hot shower, kitchen facilities, secure parking, wifi, and privacy. (Caution: mosquitoes and other pests are abundant. It’s the tropics.)Appreciate Terry and Michael’s hospitality. Hoping to tour their property and Michael’s art studio should we return some day. "

"My husband and I were fortunate to stay at the little bungalow that John offers. We found that it was very private feeling even with a couple other rentals close by. John’s as very friendly and attentive. We did not need much but he was there quick when we did. He takes great care of the property as well. It is perfect for 2 people. If we had little kids the porch would have been great for them or us to sleep. But as it sits for privacy it should be 2 people. "

"This is an amazing place if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of regular hotels. Please note that there is no TV in the room which was exactly what I wanted. This is a wellness retreat hotel that offers two classes, a day included in the price of the booking . They range from ukulele lesson, to hula dances, yoga, and chi gong lessons. The breakfast is quite nice, you can pre-order lunch for the next day if you like however the restaurant is only open twice a week at this point. The food at the restaurant is exquisite."

"Where else on Maui can you find a seven bedroom, seven bathroom private home that exists in a botanical garden? This place is an Upcountry Shangri-la, whether you’re working or playing. It mixes the utilitarian (see above about bedrooms/ bathrooms) with the Romantic: jaw dropping views, unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, and a view to the night sky that would make an early explorer just as relaxed. I’ll bet there are two dozen interesting trees on the property: an epic Banyan tree, an avocado tree, citrus trees, and many more of the flowering variety I couldn’t identify. There’s a beautiful pool and jacuzzi, and a set of common areas that make you want to hang out. I was part of a crew that was filming on Haleakala. We needed a place up the mountain that would make our daily commute manageable. I highly recommend."
